I have had a few questions regardin the stripes so let me clarify.
Hello,

I saw the picture of your new stripes and love them! My wife and I have just about finished up her FJ62 and we have been looking at stripe options for quite some time. Would it be possible to put me in contact with the gentleman that did those? I'm curious if he would be willing to have another set made and ship them to me in Michigan.

Thanks,
Jonathan
I actually did the stripes and had the Toyota logos made by sticker Mule. The only thing he did was the large silver base stripe over the old original. I just bought vinyl individual color stripes of different sizes along with

Very nice! I've always wondered about the seemingly vast array of different stripes. Are they dealer-specific? So that a particular striping scheme denotes the dealer?

One (1989) is just back from paint. Wife is the second owner.

The other (1988) is her previous truck that we got in 2006. I .. made a project out of it. Not sorry. At least it’s all Toyota!

Nice!

Really awesome thread. I probably posted this one before but it is one of my favorite pics of all the Cruisers I have owned.

A short story; I was 17yrs old in 1990. My father was killed on the job when I was five. I got some money from that, wasn’t supposed to get it until I was 18 but I got it about six months early since I graduated high school early. I wanted a nice ride badly. Almost bought a brand new Cherokee Sport, wanted a Range Rover but couldn’t afford one. Came across a 1987 FJ60 in the autotrader, it was at a Toyota dealership about sixty miles from me. I didn’t have a car so I called them up and asked if they could bring it up for me to see, they wanted like $16.5k for it and it had 40,000 miles on it. They said ok, we will send the new guy up with the truck. 😉

They send him up after 5pm, we checked it out and drove it. Never seen a 60 up close at that point in life. I wanted it so I offered $14k, cash which I had on hand. New guy says I got to call the boss to ok it, so he does. Gets off the phone and says, we will take your offer. So we do the deal, I had to drive him back home that sixty miles. On the way, he asks, would you have paid $16.5k for it? I said yup, I have another $2.5k in my pocket, I was buying the truck no matter what. He let out a few cuss words and I just smiled!

And that is how I got started with Cruisers. 😆

Cheers
