Thanks for the help with my bumper yesterday. I know it was tough for you to keep your end up and appreciate the effort. :grinpimp:

No propblem...
I love to help!
I ALMOST felt bad having you carry the heavy end of the bumper!:D

Just putting it back together. I did the water pump and looked at swapping my 2 position pulley for a three position pulley.
I had the bumper, grill and radiator off. Keith came over to help me get the bumper/winch back on. He's kind of frail and I hated to ask, but he does live close by.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Does anyone know...
Jack...
Ken...
Is it contra-indicated to use lock washers on the gas shocks?
I dont think it would be a problem, but Id sure like the stuff I NEED tight...to BE tight.
Got 3 coats of primer on today after mounting the gas shocks...
Almost done!:bounce::bounce2::bounce::bounce2:

I just used Red Locktite on the studs when I screwed them into the metal, both on the bumper and the swingout.

Thanks Jack...
Ill do the same!

If you can get a ny-lock nut on there that would be real nice.
On the spots that I could get behind I tapped the boss and I installed a lock nut = overkill

Nope. No access to get a bolt behind. I drilled and tapped to run the gas shocks. One in the bumper, and one in the SO arm.

Got the rear frame cleaned and primed today....
This bitch is DONE this weekend.

Oh YEAH...OH YEAH!

I DID wuss out on the wrap around protection, but did add a piece that ties onto the frame behind the bumper. What I came up with for wrap protection just wasnt doing it for me, and a minimalist approch was the better option IMO.

Ill post pics this weekend!

K

Nice man!
cant wait for pics.

Got the frame rails cleaned up, primered and painted, DE-woodied the tailgate, then bolted on the bumper "proper"
Ive got all day tomorrow, so the swing outs are gonna get added too.
The its DONE!

Here are some pics of the finished bumper...Still might change the wrap around scheme later, but for now, this is how she's runnin for the time!

Death Valley is 2.5 weeks away and I have NO TIME left to screw around with it.

Keith,

The bumper is looking great. Looking forward to seeing it in person.

Jack

Man, that looks really good.
Keep us posted on how the side protection works out. It looks like I'll be cutting the body away in that area anyways, so I'm going to wind up with the frame exposed like that too.

Looks great Keith! Looking at your pinion angle...it looks really high...which is probably how you intended it to be. But will the diff lube level be high enough to keep the pinion bearing lubed? Or did you relocate your diff fill plug to allow a higher fill height?

Or is it just a pigment of my imagination? :)

ALLLLLL FINISHED!:clap::clap::clap::clap:
Got the swingouts cleaned, primed and painted.
Took all day watching the paint dry.
Dont envy me too much....I had other lil things to do to keep occupied!

Here it is NEKKID without the tire and cans obviously!
Looks much nicer painted IMO!

Nope, I did nothing to the fill plug, and knock on wood...seems to be working fine.
Ive never heard any issues regarding what youre saying from others...It makes sense though. I had never thought about that.

K

Your rig is way to clean.

I'm just saying.........:rolleyes:

I was thinking that too!
Gotta get it scratched and abused a bit.
I was placing towels down so I didnt scratch the paint on the bumper...
NOT MY STYLE!
