I lived right there in Widefield as a kid and my dad was stationed in the NORAD complex in Cheyanne Mtn. Great memories! More than a few vehicles got destroyed on that climb to the top of Pikes Peak...

Nice, it sure would be a great place to grow up with so many things to see and do :) Base life looks pretty good from the fence very nice housing complex's and schools.

Yeah, Fort Carson has really improved over the years. Back in the 70's you had the Army base at Carson and two smaller Air Force bases ( Peterson Field and the NORAD Complex). Dad was in Space Command at NORAD but we were able to use the facilities at Carson and did so often. Still love the mountains and wish I could have figured out how to make a living there.

Sounds like a great and interesting job with NORAD and having access to the bases I bet you have some great stories :), I too share a love for the MTN's as well but am more suited for winters in TN more than CO/WY. I worked Salt Lake/ Cheyenne/Denver and Colorado Springs for a few years building fiber infrastructure for MCI and their winters are tough for a Southerner, LOL. I guess it would be the same for them in our humid summers.

Funny! Between four year tours in Colo Springs the AF sent us to Canada for four years! 68 to 72 in North Bay, ON. Colorado winters didn't seem too bad after that...
It was a great way to spend a childhood and I wouldn't trade a minute of it!

With a 1000 pics and some HD video I have plenty to work on but here is a few that didn't need much.

Lastly some wildlife :) We did see our first Grizzly a healthy big boy I have a great shot of him pawing a creek for water I need to work on and crop some garbage out. The Grey Wolf I was pretty close to it swam across a creek and crossed the road not far in front of us. It was awesome to see they're hard to find but its a lot of luck involved with the timing. With 20 Million acres they have plenty room to roam.

Color me jealous......those are some great pics Larry.

Thanks bud :) I have some great shots but even the pics don't seem to do it justice for how awesome the scenery really is. Its some of those must see areas you just have to experience :)

Great pictures! The wilderness pictures look very relaxing.

Checked in at Cheyenne MTN State Park in Colorado Springs for the last leg of the trip. Climbed up to the Summit of Pikes Peak today glad I did the extra capacity tranny pan I put it to the test stopped 3/4 of the way up to let it cool down from 250 degrees it's been running in the 160/170 range towing during the day 130/140 at night but the Summit climb tests your tranny and the brakes on the way down even in 1st and 2nd gear.

The numbers you posted look good. Just think before the programmer you would not know these numbers and just keep trucking, till the trans would quit pulling.
Do you have an EGT probe hooked up? Thats is close to what the 6.7 I had was running pulling a double axle trailer loaded with the Toyota. Day and night numbers almost match was I used to see , BUT I was not in the mountains like you.

Thanks Albert that's good to hear, I agree the programmer and complete setup is awesome and I like that I'm able to monitor the tranny temp/engine temp compared to gauge and also the EGT's and boost pressure. I do have the EGT hooked up the H&S has the option to run two probes. The EGT's ran between 700 - 800 flat running but would fluctuate as high 1200 on some uphill climbs. I grabbed the below screen shot headed into Witcha Falls, Tx headed home.

Programmers are not all the same. With the EDGE I was running higher EGT's than you. With a loaded trailer heading to HotSprings which is tame compared to where you went. Nice choice on programmers.
