Perhaps this is old information to some of you but I for one have been stumped for some time on exactly what kind of epoxy resin and/or glue (by any other name) to use on our rear trim pieces. You know the ones that crack everytime you touch them. Anyway, I finally found something that works fantastic and wanted to share. The plastic trim pieces are made out of ABS and it took me about 4 tries but I finally tried Permatex Perma Oxy 5 minute weld (see photo) and it worked very well. I found it at Advance Auto Parts.
It's a typical 2 part epoxy. I wanted to bridge across the back of cracks so I used some 220 sandpaper on the backside, and spread the epoxy across the back, making sure that I got some into the actual crack. You can see from the photos that it isn't invisible but it does hold very well. These pieces are going to get sprayed anyway so I don't think it will be very noticable.
This first piece was broken in half.
