I'm starting on my swap in November. Bought a 5.3L 6L80 combo from pacific fabrication. It ships out monday. Going into my wife's 96 LX450
The guys at pacfab have a great reputation on pirate for supplying low mileage take out engines. I originally wanted an iron block gen 4 5.3 to go with the 6 speed but ended up with an all aluminum version with only 23k miles from a 2013 truck. No active fuel management for me.
I'm sure , just like most swaps i've done, the wiring will take the longest. Best part about the pacfab setup is you get a brand new custom built by them harness with a sealed bussman fuse block and programmed computer. Should be just a few wires to hook up to make run.
I'm sure i'll be asking a bunch of questions about getting the gauges all working though

Is that the DI L83 motor? I was going to go that route till I saw they have an issue with valve deposits. Basically, since none of the fuel flows over the valves, none of the detergent has a chance to clean them. When I heard that I understood why all of my DI Toyota's have had two injectors per cylinder. Just a heads up.

Did you get anything else for the swap from them, like adapters, or just the engine/trans

just the engine ,trans and harness. package comes with all the accessories and the throttle pedal

The way I'm doing Gages, is using GM stuff for the ECM. Then adapting new yota senders to the engine for the Toyota gage cluster...

AFM delete I got my kit from Texas speed, comes with a cam (ls6 or ls9) and other goodies based on application, I opted to replace all my lifters. the Vortec/LS motor you can change out lifters with out pulling the head IIRC. Haven't got to this point in my build yet, so not sure yet...

I ordered an adapter from the parker store for my water temp sender. It is a hydraulic adapter made out of steel. 16mm x 1.5mm female to 12mm x 1.5 male. It will screw into the plugged hole in the head and allow me to use the toyota sender. It cost less than $20 .

I would love to see a step by step walkthrough of how to do this swap with a complete parts list that includes where to get all the parts. The rings on my 4.5 are shot, and this is my dream drivetrain for the 80.

I'm all about eventually (next year) doing a swap too. Hopefully LS swaps hit a critical mass in this community and some vendor support appears...
