What year fenders are interchangeable on a FJ40? Shush's is a 76 and his DS fender is kind of rusty.

FJ Cruiser Steelies
I'm thinking about putting 17x7 FJC steelies on my 40. Would have to use spacers to make them work. What's your opinion on the look? Opinions from the local Cruiser nerds range from nice to fugly. I kinda like the spartan look.

I originally intended to buy 16x6 Toyota steelies, but the price has increased from $80 per rim, to $200+ in the past 2 years. Even the John Hocker discount price is $150. No way I'm payin' that much for a basic steel wheel.
I can get new FJC "takeoffs" in Oklahoma City for $40 apiece.

As far as spacers go I had great success running 1" bolt on AL spacers that I got from Marlin on my 62. The trick I learned from Nolen was to check the torque on the lugs that hold the spacer to the hub several times until they stop becoming loose between tests.
I've had 1" Marlin spacers on my 62 since 2006, probably the same ones you and Chris have. Wheeled it all over Colorado and Arizona without an issue. I'd rather not use spacers, but they don't scare me.
My biggest issue with larger rims is that it makes the tires look smaller. Maybe that's in my mind...
Also, a larger rim cuts down the sidewall size (duh...), and that is important for me in airing down offroad. May not matter at all to you.
Have you considered 15s? I think they look great on the older classics.

I hate all rims that are not OEM on a 40 that is modified like yours, but that is just me. I really hate black wheels. But again, that is just me. You asked

Don't be scared of quality 1 to 1.5" spacers. Spidertrax/Marlin....they are my choice.

I already have 15's, and I won't ever air down. This isn't a wheeling truck. I'm trying to plan ahead, and BFG is scaling back production of 15" tires. Ask Chris. Lots more choices in 16" and 17" sizes. I'd prefer 16", but the FJC steelies are so cheap that I have to consider that option.

your truck deserves to be stock. 33x10.50-15 will be arround another couple of years I would think.
I have the original white wagon wheels in my garage but in gay Austin, you've gotta go for the bling. Chrome rules around here.
