what is your intention for this rig? When nolan says post 76 axles, you don't necessarily have to limit yourself to 40 series. wider might be better for a offroad rig.

To get 60 axles to work is an issue if you want the axle centered. It has to do with the perch.

Best to do is keep the 40 axle and rebuild it with later knuckles with discs.

10 bolt rear? Why would anyone spend money on one of those?

in the for sale section a guy said that cruiser junkies are lossing interestin 40s and moving on to other platforms. This was his explanation for why a guy couldn't unload his. (it was an aussie, rhd, that was over priced so I think THAT was the reason)

thoughts, opinions on this? what do yall see the most of at events? (I ask realizing terrain and state dictates alot of what is wheeled or left in camp)

I think our club consensus is that an 80 is the easiest rig to mod and then wheel on 80% of the stuff out there but.......

WTB 15x8 wheels for my 40. Dont care if they are steel or alloy as long as the backspace is correct. Rock rash is ok but wheels need to be true.

Agree 40s rule.

I have the black wagon wheels that came off my 40. I don't know the width, but I can climb up into the attic to measure if you are interested.

Here's some extra pics...no way this thing runs, and it's in BAD shape. The email reply i got last night was very fishy too. Pass.

1972 FJ-40 TOYOTA LAND CRIUSER

I found the above ad on cl when trying to see if this 40 I saw in fondren today was the one that was for sale in flowood. Also saw a nice 100 parked next to it with MT sliders and Nitto Terra Grapplers.

Yeah, talked to this guy yesterday. I'm meeting him at 3pm tomorrow (Sunday) to check it out. I'm open for ride-alongs if anyone is interested...since i don't know jack about what i'm looking at!

Guy says it doesn't crank, needs a new starter. Says one of the doors is rusted, but other than that, truck is in good shape.

Have asked for pics, but he's a little slow on the whole cell-phone pics/texting bit...

I guess you could push start it like they did in the Bolivian rainforest special of Top Gear. You are welcome to come to Brandon MS and borrow my old starter that was starting to wear out. It is an easy install of you want to really see if runs, assuming the 2F starter would work on a F engine.
