If you get a chance, will you measure from the center of the wheel hub to the bottom of the flare. I have just installed the 4" kit also and am just wondering how they compare.

Thanks,
Darren

That's going to be difficult for alvarorb -- he has no flares :)

OK, you got me.

Please measure from the center of the hub to the area on the fender well that formerly held the flare.

Darren,

I'll do that.

Alvaro...

Nice upgrade.

Just wondering:

Did you get the whole kit from Christo or are you doing this piece meal?

ie: adjustable panhards, adjustable rear uppers, front DC DS, etc.?

I'd be interested in seeing how the 4" responds when all of these have been upgraded as well.

Nice pics. Enjoy the new cushy ride.

Beno,

It's been a labor of love.
I've been doing it piece by piece. Last november I got the adjustable panhards. I've got the front DS sitting in my garage. I will install it this weekend.

If there's light out when I get home, I'll take a picture of my rig.

After reading all of the posts and finding a little time, I have finally gotten the 4" fronts, that I have had for over a month, off the floor and on the truck. I have to say these things are sweet. I wanted to level the front to equal the 863's in the rear until I get the rear bumper etc. I am still working out a few vibration issues, the front dc shaft didn't help, so I am having the both stock shafts rejointed and balanced and hope to be smooth from there. However, I haven't gotten the chance to wheel the set-up quite yet, the ride on the street is great, very firm, not harsh, the way a truck with 35's should be sprung and the truck has a perfect stance. This is actually a great combo for trucks that typically carry a light load, unsure how it would be with a slee rear and all of my trail gear, I will install the remaing parts with the rear bumper, but if I didn't plan on the bumper and wouldn't be carrying a load, I would leave it just where it is!!

John,

La Cabra is a heavy truck. Besides Slee's rear bumper, I've got a home grown wooden drawer system that weighs a ton (empty). With all the stuff I carry around, is at least 100 lbs more. Then there's the front bumper, winch, iron pig skid plate, sliders, me, etc, etc.
And I love the way it rides with the 4" springs

Do you have the 4" on the rear as well?

Guys,

The height in the rear did not chance with the vehicle unloaded. The front went up to 40".

Here's a crazy comparison ..

80/lite/4"coils in front/863 rear/36's .. 40.75 floor-flare lip. Oh, and I measured the rear at the same time .. and it was also 40.75.

"level"

Hey Alvaro

What ya running for caster? Bushings or Brackets? Is it ok?

Thanks

Kevin,

I'm running OME bushings at the moment and I have a busted front sway bar mount. Having said this, La Cabra is driving very nice. A lot better than with the Js. I should have the sway bar and caster plates this weekend.

I can also say that La Cabra is wondering less with this setup than when I went with a medium lift and MTRs.

John,

All around

Highjack on/

Pardon me "A" just wanted to add some info :)

80 lite-ish - ARB front bumper warnX9000 W/rope - no bumper or sliders on yet - no second or third row seats - nothing inside

40" front - floor-flare lip 42.25 rear floor-flare lip

This is good news for me because I am estimating the final payload in the rear to be almost 1K LBS + - should level off nicely

here are a few photo pages

Good to hear on the 4' springs all around, Slee has just gotten some new bumpers in and I will get him to ship out the rear springs with the rear bumper. Did you have to adjust the rear angle much to keep out the vibes? In the front does your stock shaft seem smooth?

I have an incredibly caster challanged truck, 0* with the bushings, 850's, ARB, Warn winch, big Warn lights, and a high lift mounted to the front. Since the bushings were already in, I left them and added the plates giving me 4* of total caster. I had huge vibration issues with the front dc shaft. I pulled the rear shaft and still huge vibes with just the front dc shaft. I am waiting for both of my stock shafts to get balanced and jointed. I will post those results ASAP.

Actually this is what you should expect with the 4" springs. I have the same setup and needed 7* of correction and the DC shaft to get everything in line. I've done nothing in the rear and the truck drives smooth. That's not to say things are correct, as I doubt they are, but without any Vibes to prod me along I've been lazy about checking the angles.

The d/s shop finished up the shafts, got them both installed tonight. I am very pleased with the lack of vibration. I don't think I would tackle any lift again without first reworking both shafts. I think it is a mod/pm that is very underated w/ 80k on the clock it needed it anyway. U joints are fairly cheap $45x4, I got the shafts balanced and the joints installed for $100, so for $285, no vibrations. Looking forward to completing the kit, hopefully the smooth ride will continue.

With help from Cruiser Drew and CubeDweller, I installed my caster plates yesterday. Upon taking things a part, the first thing we discovered was that the OME bushings were cracked. Plus the rear control arm bushings were shot.

Driving home last night I felt vibrations coming from the front. Today I will put in Slee's dual cardan drive shaft.

I want to thank Andy and Tony, without their help this project would have taken a lot more time.

Here's a picture of the lifted rig:

I've also updated my my web site and placed more pictures there.

Looks great Alvaro.

And CDrew always has the most 'classic' pic poses...that press pic....:flipoff2:

Glad the labor of love is coming together nicely.

Nice job, Alvaro.
did you mean that you have vibrations with the plates, but didn't with the bushings?
Did you have to grind the control arms?
You lowered the front sway bar mounts already, I assume?
And what's the chrome tool you used for the bushings, this some sort of socket?
looks great

Looking sweet...I also think that the spring rate of the slee springs is spot on!! I just measured my set up with finder flares and 315's I am sitting at 42" front and 41" rear.
