Guys,

This weekend I upgraded my springs from OME Js to Slee's 4". You can tell the difference just by getting in the truck. It's not only a bit taller, but it rides much nicer.

Here are some pics.

The height in the rear did not chance with the vehicle unloaded. The front went up to 40".

Right now, I'm without front sway bar. When we were disconnecting it, we realized the one of the sway bar mounts was broken. This week the project should end with the install of Slee's caster plates and fixing the front sway bar mount.

I'll post more pics later.

La Cabra ''MEANS''?

The goat.

Which is all good until the chupacabra comes around.

Right now I just have the caster correction bushings from OME. I haven't had time to press them out, and press new bushings in. I'm also running without a front sway bar. So I can't really tell what then end result will be.

What I can tell you is that it drives a lot nicer than with the Js. It's a more solid ride.

Interesting, keep us posted, I'm planning on going OME, with the eventual stepping it up to the 4". If you really like it, I might be persuaded to spend the money for the bigger lift off the bat. Road handling? Increased articulation? The front end's at 40", where was it before?

Thanks,
M

Mars,

A little over 38" with the Js and 35s.
But more important than height, is the increased control. It drives SO much better. Having said this, if you plan to go this way, you gotta know that it's not just springs you have to change. It's a bunch of other stuff (brake lines, panhard rod adjusters, caster correction, sway bar drop brackets, etc, etc.) Christo makes it easy with his kits.

I would expect you have less vehicle sway with new coils. They appear to have 2 additional turns but look like they're the same overall height which means the coil pitch is less too, obvious by the pics.

If any one cares - the 4 common factors affecting the stability and spring rate of a coil while maintaining the same unloaded height:

Wire gauge
Wire carbon content
Coil pitch/Number of turns
Coil barrell diameter

MoJ,

That's exactly right. Less sway, better ride.

I can confirm this, as was my discovery when I swapped in the 4" coils in place of the 850J's. Just seemed to bring the ride under control a tad .. me like:) .

If you get a chance, will you measure from the center of the wheel hub to the bottom of the flare. I have just installed the 4" kit also and am just wondering how they compare.

Thanks,
Darren
