Thanks.

Any one ever install one of these SOR headliner kits? I'm struggling with how the welting goes on. No instructions with the liner and I don't see any on SORs site. I got most of the wood up.

Search Buckroseau's sp? build. Sticky at top. I remember seeing details there.

I did. All I saw was it took three guys all day to get it in. No detail pics.

Edit - searched again and found a removal pic that shows the tube part has the flap going Between the wood and the headliner and the tube under the wood. The welting then goes over the wood. I need to take it all down and cut down the wood. I was using 3/4. It needs to be 1/2. Hopefully I can get it cut down without having to re drill. It was a pain transferring the hole locations to tape and then to the wood, predrilling and then installing in the factory holes.

This is such an awesome vehicle you have put together. I wanted to confirm that the 45LV has a 104" wheelbase.

I have grown very fond of the 1fz and rather than a typical V8 swap, I'm going the 1fz route in my 40. I have a complete 80 with good motor for a donor so why not. Currently my 40 is strecthed to 103" so i should just be okay on the rear dshaft. I am currently using 80 series driveshafts front and rear anyway with my wheelbase. I've already swapped to a taurus fan and I have done a few toy wiring harnesses in the past.

Thank You for the inspiration. Did I miss pics of your motor mounts?

I thought there was some back when I first dropped the motor on the frame when the body was still off. Basically I just hung the motor where I wanted it and built pedestals to support the stock mounts. I used paper to make the side templates, then boxed it in.

It's tough to see them with the fenders on.

Just zipped through this whole thread again. I see new weather strip around the doors but no mention of it. What did you use? Part numbers? Looked in alot of other threads too, but most of those part numbers are non existent now???

Now that I think about it more. It might have been one of those things that came in a box with the truck. Goebs would collect that kind of thing when it came up. That's how I had a new set of cat eye tail lights, and the new cast Land Cruiser emblem.

Put the Smittybilt console in. It's not bolted down. I'm going to need to built a rear support for it.

The shifter was right where the cupholders were, so I pulled the cupholders and have the shifter coming up through where they were at. I think it'll give me a place to mount the 80 series PRNDL indicator too.

Fixed the console this morning.

Built a box to support the rear. Just a simple five sided thing out of 16g. Powdercoated it after I had to go to the store and buy a new cup for my powdercoater gun. Turns out the threads are the same size as a mason jar. Had a quart one on there, but the gun got dropped and shattered it. Bought a case of pint ones. they fit better and use less powder. They also don't hang down as far and should be more durable.

I decided I didn't like not having cupholders and didn't like the look of the shifter, so I built a box for that too. This one was a bit more complicated as the sides are angled. It came out pretty good. There's a slot next to the shifter for the PRNDL indicator.

Still have to make a wiring harness to extend the PRNDL wires and for the head unit.

Some mods to the console today.

I pulled the console to do some work to it, so I put a boot in that will stay under the console.

I wired up a cheap Dual head unit. I didn't want anything expensive, but I did want USB, so used was out.

I cut the PRNDL wiring and extended it and chased down some wiring. Got all the lights working. The D light was burned out, of course.

Printed a bezel on the 3D printer that holds a piece of lexan and the PRNDL housing. Looks pretty good and works well.

Worked on the headliner welting too. What a ridiculous design. There has to be a better way.

Took the spare off the 60 series rim and put it on a steelie that I de-rusted in an electrolytic tank and then sand blasted. It was really bad. The sand blaster wasn't touching it at first, but a couple of days in the electrolytic tank and i cleaned up nice. Powdercoated it with the rally charcoal color on the other rims.

installed all the welting for the headliner. It was a giant pain, but it went a lot faster when I realized I didn't need to use the wood strips with the SOR welting. It has a plastic strip inside it that replaces the wood strip. Would have been nice if it came with any instructions.

So, for those of you that want to install a SOR headliner in a 45 - I would mark the hole locations on a strip of 1/2 masking tape. Pull the tape off and put it on the welting. Draw lines down from the factory holes with a pencil. I used #8 galvanized 1" drywall screws. I used a staple gun with 1/4 staples to install the screw covering, but I could not get the gun inside the flap to cover up the staples so I think I'll go back with little tacks now that it's up, then pull the staples.
