Anyone know if these 16" wheels will fit on the 15" equipped older trucks?

I can't recall if there's a special wheel... But I do know a Tacoma wheel pictured in post #1 hit the brake caliper on my 93 4Runner...

If it wasnt for me not liking spacers I'd have a set of Tacoma rims on my 4Runner...

i am not sure how a 16 " wheel will hit the caliber where a 15" wheel used to be, i do know 15" aloys off of a 3rd gen 4runner hit my 1st gen tie rods the caliper cleared no problem! the 16 " wheels cleared but the tires hit the springs, so i put spacers on, i have a solid Axel not ifs, also when flexing in the rear with the 84 rear the tires would rub the frame, but i was set up to put an 86 rear in any how, that all done on a 1st gen 4runer i have had no issues! so hilux i am not sure why something hit your caliper, they do set inside the rim so if you can run a 15" you should have 1" clearance when going to a 16"

That's my plan. Apparently, the particular design shown in my photo came in both 15 and 16x7 sizes. I bought some awhile ago, sight unseen, through my sister in another state. Just checked them out and found them to be in excellent shape and 16". Everyone has individual preferences for wheel designs for various vehicle applications. These happen to be my favorite for the 4runners and pickups.

Lest we forget, the difference in 4 and V6 calipers...

i like those too! you can get center caps, for the lock out hubs mine you can't, but i would try them before you buy spacers, i do not think you will need them.
oh and read on!

hi lux come on dude they were making the V6 when they made all of these alloys, so what do you think makes a difference between a v6 caliper and a 4 banger caliper and these wheels? i stated the 15"wheels hit my stock tie rods there was plenty of room for the calipers, also the wheels came off a 90 4 runner with a 3 slow backed by a slushbox, and they are the same wheels my wife's 95 3 slow 5speed has!

I gotta learn to quit being so lazy when I type...:D

The "x2" context I was referring to was after the OP read the link provided...

Sorry, I was just being lazy...

i am  about a stock Toyota rim hitting or rubbing a caliper, that is larger in diameter than what came on the truck?

Yeah, but you got a few things going for you the OP does not.

1: You got a SFA, no? So the stock wheel back spacing and calipers would have to be the same as the OP's 4Runner for your experience to work for him.

Comparing rims and backspacing of IFS to SFA is apples to oranges as far as I'm concerned.

And I'm almost positive, no, they are not the same. Some IFS wheels won't even work on SA trucks, so YRMV.

2: The 4 and 6 calipers are different sizes. So depending on wheel off set, one might not work with the other. And in some cases they do not. See the thread about FJ60 rotors and IFS calipers. Some rims will NOT work. They will hit the... caliper.

3: Spacers are mentioned a few times in the link I provided. And I needed spacers with my experience. But as stated I don't remember what specific rim I had other than it was the style pictured in post #1.

i am not sure how a 16 " wheel will hit the caliber where a 15" wheel used to be

4: Different rim styles can be made in different ways. One may be flat and free of hitting anything on the back, and one might need more strength so it's more built up in the back.

Some rims are cast. And some are cast and machined.

Just b/c a Tacoma is IFS does not mean its rim will work on another, different IFS truck. Though the bolt pattern is the same...

Back, spacing... The Tacoma IFS was a totally different IFS than the Torsen Bar set-up we have.

The later IFS wheels have more backspace, the mounting surface is dished in more on the backside. This causes a couple of issues; They will hit the tie rod ends on the straight axle front and they will narrow the track. Both issues are solved with 1”+ (depending on the wheels) wheel spacers.

Unless your in a panic for them, shop the list more. I got a set of 17” Tundra alloys with 1/2 tread tires for $175. A buddy got a set of 16” like on iortechnology’s rig for $300. with like new A/T tires. Those Tacoma rims are my favorite style for early rigs! Both sets had lugs, caps and in very nice condition.

and in here you state you do not like spacers, why do you not like spacers?

EDIT: Plus, there are two types of spacers... One is a ring you bolt on to your existing WMS and tighten the lugs which are counter sunk into the spacer. The new lug studs are tapped into the spacer... The way I drive I'd be scared of pulling the lugs through the spacer, or just breaking the spacer...

The second was a hub spacer I was not aware of at the time, and wouldn't go through the trouble to get anyway...

That's just me, and my opinion.

I am HARD on my trucks and I do want cast aluminum holding my rims on the hub. And I don't like the added leverage and wheel track width associated with.

The T-bar IFS is VARY strong, and VARY well made. But I just don't want the added "cam" the spacers might add to stress my front end... Not that the IFS is like a Chevy IFS, but look at the damage ppl do when they put big ol' fat tires with crazy off-set wheels on their trucks. Like I said, that's just my view and opinion. I have no factual base and don't care to get any.

I don't want a full size truck so I don't drive them... Well if your wheel track width is as wide as one, what's the difference?

i am sorry but i do not see where the op said anything about spacers?

Correct, that is my old rig, '90, 3.slo, no spacers. The only "issue" is the front, plastic center caps, had to cut the center out to clear the locking hubs. If you don't have locking hubs, the center still will not clear the drive plate and looks silly when cut out.
