I took my 3fe on my first weekend trip to the trails up north in MI UP. I was pleasantly suprised with how well it hit 70 and maintained 65 up hills while loaded with gear. I am not at all disappointed with performance. I really like the old truck feel of the 91. I was on 31s and do not need bigger tires in the mid west.

I like messing with the timing Idea when I make it out west. So many good tips. Thanks!

there is a big difference in performance between stock timing and advance 13-14 degree. I just advance it 75% by rotating the dizzy CC, then dial it back so it doesnt ping..very simple. nothing is needed except with your ear and a 12mm wrench...

My 92 heats up with uphill load … have copper rad . 180 thermostat. I drive with heater on … windows open. Trucks been idle for 3years.
My 92 used to overheat uphill with stock radiator and aftermarket CSF brass/copper unit. I have since replaced with alum. 2 core from Ron Davis, and i could not overheat that engine since even with AC on full blast with 37s and fully loaded going up steep grade

I finally took time to snap good photos of my 1991 restoration. The colors and fall foliage are a great combo.

My 92’ can barely hit 60 going slight uphill on the freeway. I don’t know what’s wrong. I m jealous of you guys.

Mine is desmogged but otherwise stock. I would be interested in how it does in real hills. In Wisconsin I never notice needing more power. I have always had pedal left when I need it.

I am going to try the timing advice after I install my tune up kit.

What’s desmogged

This thread always makes me want a 3fe so bad.

My last LC was a 100 series. It was/is a VERY good vehicle. It felt like a modern vehicle.

My 91 feels special because I need to "drive" it. Even open diff it handles so great off road due to awesome flex.

I just really like driving it. My 100 had less heart but also took me anywhere I wanted to go reliability.

Basically you just cant go wrong with an LC there is always so much to like about every model.

I think a 100 is going to be in my future again though I can not imagine the day I sell my FJ80.

Real new guy post incoming. Trying to track down a misfire, at the point of looking for air leaks. I bought the two plastic intake tubes to replace.

What’s the procedure to get these off? Do you start from the air cleaner and work back to the throttle body? I know there’s danger around the plug, how do you safely remove the plug on the afm? Or do you just leave it and take off the 4 bolts?

There’s a metal retainer clip around the plug… remove it with small flat head screwdriver
