yes it's stock. I have not had any cooling issues with it. But Iam installing a after market temp gauge so I can be extra sure. To be honest Randy drove the first long trip today in the truck. From Austin to Dallas. Maybe he will chime in on how things went?

Maybe this will help - It's tight, but it fit. I bought the truck with the engine in it, so Iam have no clue if they had to shift the engine over a bit.

Why the early style booster?

Wouldn't a later style or a FJ60/mini truck booster make the "tight fit" a little easier to deal with?

Whats the fuel mileage on that rig Mark??

It came with the truck...and it's works great, so I did not mess with it. ;)

Randy just pulled into Dallas, and I just Google mapped his house to mine - 199 miles. He was going to top off the tank and let us know the mileage. After he does the upgrades to the engine, we will track it again and see how it changed.

Here is tonight MPG report

Facts:
4:11 gear
33x10.5 15R inch BFG AT tires
4 speed

Randy was driving at 2700 RPM, and the speedo read about 65 MPH

He used 13.3 gallons gas - so that puts the mileage around - 14.96 MPG

A stock cruiser came with 28 inch tires, so Iam guessing he was really going around 75 MPH??

The intake work

It drove really nice! Had get up and go. It just needs a little fine tuning. The plan for it is tear off the front end. Send the fenders/hood out for paint, Swap out Mark's tired fuel injection system and install my upgraded intake that has been polished inside/ported/tweaked. Powder blasted, and powder coated.Newly cleaned injectors and a fresh throttle body that has been opened up and rebuilt. Also I will port the head as required. Here are some pics of the intake tear down....

The clean stuff

Here are the pics of the parts after they came back from Soda blast. They are smooth as silk after the soda blast! Makes for awesome Powder/paint finish. Also you won't need to do a lot of runner polishing after this step. I want to remove any casting flash or surface that would disrupt the air flow through the runner. Also after it is reassembled I will remove any gasket material that may stick out from the interior of the runner.

Hey!
I wanted to drive that thing! Too bad I slept all weekend.
Call me if it's around.

Putting my 2F up for sale on Mud.

Randy I'll try to catch you in the AM.

I've got a question about the mounting of the engine... What motor mounts were used? I just mounted mine and I had to use a 2F mount on the passenger side and the round cushions on both sides.

I still seem to have a slight angle with the driver side further to the rear of the truck. Not much but noticeable. I also noticed that two of the fan blades come VERY close to the radiator. My fan shoud hasno hope of fitting. Do you have a fan shoud? There was no problem with brake booster or power sterring box.

I want to use the A/C compressor and I can not do it with theis motor mount. Is there a way to use the original 3FE mount on the passenger side? Here are some pics:

It does have a fan shroud but on the driver side of the rad. It has been cut off. I got in the middle of this one after mmw68 purchased it so I am trying to get the in's and out's down. For the compressor mount I am still looking at that. Probably just use the stock mount/frame, I don't have one laying around. But since there is an offset I will move the frame mounts to try and correct that on the next 3FE. Good looking install so far. I am going to dig in on 68's by wed. for the intake and other stuff so I can get some good pic's of the mounts and other stuff.

Randy - this brings up a good question - regarding the A/C Compressor and PS pump.

I guess we should test fit both, while the fenders are off. I have all the OEM brackets and both the Compressor and Pump - I'll get that too you ASAP.

The Truck is going to be desmoged leaving a space for a pump or compressor. I guess we could mount the PS pump where the Smog pump went - and the A/C compressor where the PS pump goes?

Another thought...If we did move the PS pump to the DS - then it would be a shorter the run for the hoses. I do have the OEM 3FE pump...but Iam not married to the idea of using it, we could just toss on a chevy style pump in place of the smog pump...but then we would have some fab work..I just don't know if it worth the effort to??

HERE COMES THE FUN!!!! I will need those brackets and hoses if by chance you can get them to me this week. Was Lee still headed this way??
