3B engine run on low/no oil advice

The way it is parked is asking for more rust, but if someone would tow it to a carwash and take a picture it would shine.
This would be a better story if it was: look what my aunt gave me, or, guys my neighbor asked me to tow this away.
598,000 km: I don't think that engine is perfect, they are both just scrap metal.

I suppose the chassis is far gone, but mine was to: I bought it from carwash pictures.

A 58 rover is pretty cool. Realize that if you put that kind of money onto a 3B you will not recoup it any time soon. Forgive me but I think your rover would be worth way more origional in stock condition wouldn't it? Those thing fetch a pretty penny these days.

I know I'm reviving an old thread, but I think every cruiser needs a chance.

Anyway I went to see this thing yesterday and here are my thoughts.

1. The frame is actually quite good, I could not find much rust on it at all.

2. The rust is all on the external of the body, the only internal rust is the passenger door, which is pretty bad. But the wheel wells are great and the rockers aren't bad either.

The biggest issue is the rear roof, because there are rust holes near the window, and some tiny amounts of water have gotten in at some point. Though it looks like non of it has made it past the window sill.

3. Most bj60s I've seen around the area have just as bad rust or worse for more money.

The man is firm on $1500CAD
So my questions are as follows...
Is the rust on the roof fairly fixable?
Because if it is fixable I'm going to buy it.
I have a machinist friend that could likely do the crankshaft for me cheap, so is this a really dumb idea?

I would love to find one in the states, but at the price range I'm looking at I'd be paying to tow it anyway probably. I might consider swapping something else into this one if I get it, maybe a 4bt or a 6.

Ok so get the old fella to hit the rear part of the frame where the spring mounts under the passanger door with a hammer and see how it looks. Get him to hit it pretty hard. Any frame worth anything won't care how hard you hit it. My guess is you might have some luck pushing your finger straight through it. I've done it before on bad frames. The pic of the frame shows what looks like a major crack on the bottom. The rust scale is impressive in thickness. I'm not sure how much metal is left in the frame. That roof is garbage. Think of it like when you see a rat. You only see the obvious one, the other ten are hiding.....and so is the rest of the rust on that truck. Except your looking at several bad rats right off the bat! I've bought some disgusting trucks in my day and this one is much worse. I wouldn't give him more than a couple hundred and it would only be for the drivetrain and electrical components. It's a parts truck and a poor one at that. If it's drive train was perfect and intact it's worth 1500, but it's not.
