Ham usage - There are plenty of folks with HAM - most trail runs will pick a chat channel for spotting & comms while on trail. The main Rubi repeater channel that committee uses and emergency folks use can be monitored so you have some idea whats happening. I usually switch between monitoring the Rubi channel & the chat channel my run has picked. you just toggle a/b on the ham, it's super easy and you don't have to mess with radio, you can monitor & talk on your runs channel & contact staff/emerg personel if necessary, mostly listen so if parts/help is needed and I'm close or have the parts I can help.
