GMRS?

Should I have GMRS in addition to 2m HAM?

@Firemedic831 When exactly does registration close (and which runs have spots left)?

I just finished tubbing to clear 40s and am in the middle of installing the parking brake and limit straps, I'll hopefully be able to do a shake down run this coming weekend, then onto installing the rear bumper, sliders, and skids....then lots of bare metal needs painting. I'm hoping to get it all done in-time so I've waited to register until the last minute.
Registration will close this Sunday the 18th There are still some spots open and if you want a particular run you can email me or text me and I can see what I can do

You can use gmrs. Most do not have a ham Lic You can in a emergency use a ham if your are not licensed though
Not mentioned in the requirements... I'm all set with HAM and GMRS in any case... I just want to be properly prepared.

I'm a little confused, can GMRS be used on ALL runs? Or for the Wagon Run is 2m HAM (+license) mandatory?

All runs can use GMRS. Your trail leads will have ham capability. We use Ham to reach out beyond the rubicon trail . Ie to call in Medical . But for the runs GMRS is fine .

Procrastinated for some reason but I am finally registered. Broke a lot of stuff very early on last year so we called it early but showing up this year with Orion 4:1, anti-wrap bar, and an ARB in the front. Should be a lot of fun. Now I just need to put the truck together.....

To continue on radio’s, battle born cruisers has a batch of loaner hand heads I will bring just to cover so everyone is on the same frequency,

I will also have the portable welder and normal associated desert fix tools and parts, so far everyone I’ve talked to on the wagon run fits the normal ocd cruiser head, over prepared and ready for anything.. it’s going to be a good year…

Speaking of Ham and gmrs is there a band plan or will channels/frequencies be dealt with on-site?
All of this will be gone over with you by your trail lead . You will also receive ham radio frequencies in your bag . Each run will have a designated GMRS channel so you are not walking over other runs .

Remember to take into consideration that there may be delays if you are coming in Ice house road .
