The case I got had larger cans. Like if beer is a standard 12 oz can these were 22oz ers. I was in a garage which helped. and the I did not do the inside of the tub, or the underside of the hood yet.

That explains it I have seen those cans Napa has them too

I sprayed the final clear coat today , only one coat I don't like high glossy finishes as I expected big difference the clear coat is harder than the paint itself.. a stupid bird crapped on my hood and I didn't realize until maybe an hour later (remember I am paiiting outside)
I have a big stain on the hood the size of an hockey puck i tried to remove it but the paint was still soft and made a bigger mess, on top of that i ran out of paint and I can't retuch it until tomorrow , the Napa guy ordered me some more cans and that is the only negative about the paint job but I can easily fix that

well it's done .. here's the first pictures
I now can finally say I own a cruiser and I can prove it :)

However I hate the aluminum diamond plate what color should I paint it ??
black like the running board (3/16" steel diamond plate) or stick with the yellow?? orelse??

I think black would look good.Easy touch up too.

When I paint bombed mine I went with the color graphite.Same color as a pencil lead.

what brand ? I like graphite better than just plain black

is that a primer, paint and clear coat? or just a primer and clear?
i want to do the minimum for mine!!!!

2 light coats of zero rust (primer rust preventer) 3 coats krylon farm implement paint
and 1 light coat of clear polyurethane.. it's getting hard now but it's taking a long time it is so humid these days in Ny
the only reason I used the zero rust is because I made lots of patches with fresh steel so I wanted to have some protection
you can easily get away with just the cans if your tub is in good shape
I had major rust

I had to replace the complete floor,
all the supports,
body mounts ,
rear bed,
quarter panels
rear frame section,
wheel wells,
rear sill,
crossmember
parts of the channels where the sides sit,
2 large holes in the left fender 1 in the right fender
the front section of the hood...
and the rocker panels

and it rides straight
:)

I decided to paint the whole thingh... another case of cat yellow and 3 cans of clear enamel

to add to my previous post . The initial paint in the front end went on very smooth it looked great
however the rear quarter panel and tailgate which I did later gave me a lot of orange peel, drippings etc..
Here's my theory the front was done piece by piece, so mostly flat orizontally and the outside temp was around 90deg and lots of NY humidity,
the rear was done on the cruiser and the temp was much lower around 70 and much lower humidity, the rear dried harder than the front in about 48 hours..
but the front set on the steel much smoother probably due to the fact that the panels where really hot from the sun, it dried almost instantly not allowing any peel or drips.

Jeep owners stop me all the times to ask me what year is this CJ.. this has to stop
I need a huge decal in the rear with large letters spelling TOYOTA... not Jeep
