I'm quite new to Toyotas, but came across this 91 landcruiser for $500 from my neighbor. At the time there was plastic on the windows since most of the motors were shot and one widow was shattered. The passenger side birfield was broke and the truck sat cocked to the right ;) but manged to get all that working and she lasted for about 6 months before I blew the 3FE.

Here are the main components of the build:
- 91 LC
- 2001 2WD sequoia donor
- 96 a343 with HF2AV
- sc400 oil pan swap
- Oil filter relocation kit
- 2uz bell housing from the sequoia
- a340e trans pan from the sequoia since the fill tube is on the right sid and mates with the 2uz perfect.
- 2002 2uzfe with 120k miles and the 4wd ECU from another sequoia with no alternator, throttle body or A/C pump.

I started with the 2uzfe on the stand since the donor 2uz had 315k miles. Installed new timing belt, waterpump tstat etc... little things so far. Really trying to get use to the engine before tearing it down further. Need to look at compression, valves, oil pan swap with the sc400 and the oil filter relocation. I robbed the alternator, and most of what I needed from the sequoia. Having the donor makes the entire build that much easier and being its non-vvti Its almost plug and play. I considered moving the entire dashboard from the Sequoia since it has so many modern parts and the wiring harness is already there, but will have to think long and hard for that one as I like the LC interior I plan to take the front captain seats from the donor which also have heat ;)

I finish refreshing the a343 with a transgo shift kit, solenoids and various o-rings. nothing major. I bought the Sequoia for $700 engine was good, but the overdrive was blown in the transmission. I moved the oil pan over from the a340e and the sensors. HF2AV is on the bench might as well go through it all while its out. When I have a good day outside I will start the motor mounts. I'm hoping to use the Sequoia gas lines and pump configuration and anything else I can to save money and make this a "plug in play configuration" using all factory wiring. Hoping when its done, I can sell most of the parts and get my money back too haha.

My estimate is around 5500k for the build minus what ever I sell in the end. I want to complete the build by July 2020. I plan to spend a good bit of money on exhaust and headers. Thanks to IH8MUD community for inspiring me to do this crazy build and my wife who lets me play in the garage!

Interesting, I’ve thought about this type of swap. As I have a 100series drive train on my shop floor right now. Just got done tearing one apart after being wrecked to part out and fix up my 100

the a343f in the 80 is slightly different than that of 100. The 100 uses a 4th solenoid that is PWM for rail pressure control. The 80 uses a cable driven control off the TB that the 2uz will not have accommodations for.

What is the 4wd 2uz computer out of that you picked up?

the 2uz motor came from a 2002 4WD Sequioa and I have a running 2wd Sequioa. i have three transmissions (a340f from a 2000 4runner, a340e from a 2001 sequoia and a a343f is from a 96 LC. I was thinking of swapping the valve body from the 340f into the a343f so I can scrap the line pressure cable and use all the electronics and let the 4wd ecu from the Sequioa control everything. not sure what will work

Nice, I’ve been thinking about doing that in my 96 since I’m running a stand-alone trans computer with my Cummins swap. That way I can tie in boost to increase line pressure.

This ones going down the rabbit hole a bit... interesting swap, curious to see how much is plug and play.... will follow along... thanks for the heads up @tmxmotorsports

Dose the sequoia use chipped keys? I was thinking there was an early tundra with the 4.7 that doesn’t use immobilizer that people use harnesses for swaps.

Decided to swap the valve body from the 01 Sequoia a340e to the 96 a343f and do the transgo shift kit. now I have the correct wiring for the 2uz since there is no line pressure cable on the throttle body. Luckily I have 3 transmission to experimant on.. the a343 valve body is much different then the other 2 a340s. the valve body pics below from the left is a 2000 4runner, the middle is 01 Sequioa and the right is the 96 LC. the 4runner and Sequioa bodies are the same except 4runner has marking "T1" and Sequioa "T2". 4runner has line pressure cable which is easly swapped with spc solenoid. hope it all works. If I only knew what I knew now I would have purchased a 98 - 2001 a343f from A Land Cruiser 100 since i believe it mates perfect to the harness of the 2uz and follows the plug and play model I want to do.

If you have a chance, would love to see the a343F from the 100 because as far as I know, I've upgraded my 96 a343f to the 100 as I believe the connectors and valve body may be the same as 2000 - 2002 Sequoia and Tundra a340F. I suspect the 100 has the same transmission from 98 - 2002 or so

Got one on the shop floor I’ll do a a walk around. I really suppose your correct in that thinking.
