Haha yeah when Mother Nature cooperates. Still ironing out some bugs and making improvements along the way. How is yours?

A trick I learned a long time ago when working on sealing the cylinder jugs on Corvairs.... you can reuse copper sealing rings and washers by annealing them. Heat them to a dull red with a torch and then drop them in water. They will be dead soft again.

I like the oil cooler because it is also an oil warmer. Coolant gets hotter faster than oil, so it works well in the cold, too.

I have a 78 2F #274509..... Doesn't appear to ever have had one. Never has since I've owned it.

Again I ask cost/benefit ratio?? Is it worth having one on these trucks?

Well, Toyota thought there was a benefit:hhmm: I don't think anyone disputes the benefit of cooler oil...and more oil as it will add about 1/2 qt to your oil capacity. Cost? Well, you will need a couple of hard lines the cooler and a new waterpump. Not expensive to put together, especially if you need to replace the waterpump.

My 2F Oil Cooler leaks, not from large Mounting Bolts but I believe from the plugs / relief valve.

I need help sourcing Copper Crush Gaskets for 2F Oil Cooler.

Can anyone tell me Part # or generic alternative?

Measure the id of the copper washer you need. If I have a spare, I’ll toss it in with the carb, no charge.

Im still hunting appropriate crush washer to stop oil leakage. Size is M18

Just found an assortment pack on Amazon.com for $11 and it will be here by Sunday. I’m going to give it a shot.

I'm sure some where in the world an oil cooler is life saving.
I went from not having one, to having one and back to not having one(same 2F) and didn't see any negative or even positive benefits.

By its design, it's more of a temperature regulator than a cooler per se. It will only "cool" the oil to the temperature of the cooling system, i.e. ~190-210 degrees F. On the other hand, it may help warm up the oil more quickly in a cold climate.

Also, the surface area of the cooler is sufficiently small compared to the volume of the oil in the system that it's hard to see how it could have a large impact.
