I have a 74 F.5 with the non-usa dizzy and a Pertronix module. Your situation reminded me that I haven't had the cap off for quite a few years so I just had a look.
You probably know to rotate the magnet as you push it on so it lines up and then drops down over the points cam. Same for the rotor, rotate till it lines up and drops down. I'm sure you know this but just saying. Probably not the same part # but thought the pics might help. My magnet sits below the module.

So I don't know what all was going on with this, but not surprised in the least bit.

After giving everything a good once over, I went for it. I took off as much material as I thought safe from the magnet sleeve (it has a necked down area for spacing, I posted a pic earlier) and sanded off excess material from the bottom of the rotor, and finally got the dist. cap to go back on. It was still tight. Hope it holds.

So then I wired it up, simple enough.

and now it runs. Drove it around the block. Seems to run the exact same as the old points, and that is fine with me. I just hope it continues to work.

Thanks to everyone for the help and all the pics.
