I have an 85 4runner, and I've just finished a long rebuild project. I rebuilt the whole motor about 2 years ago, but it has not run until about a month ago. It is running on 2 cylinders. 2 & 4 seem to be working fine, but 1 & 3 are not. they all have spark. They all have good compression. The Injectors are all new. I've checked the solenoid resistor according to the directions in my FSM, and it checks out. I've read this post( https://forum.ih8mud.com/79-95-toyota-truck-tech/311436-22re-injector-problem-i-had.html ) and I've unwrapped the harness and all the splices seem to be in good shape. all wires have good continuity back to there source(ECU or Solenoid Resistor)... I am at a loss. I do not know what to do next... Any help or advice you may have would be greatly appreciated.....

something else i found that I thought I'd mention.... The E1 terminal on the ECU connectors is what I understand to be one of the computers body grounds.... when I test resistance with my multimeter it shows 5.3 Ohms.... Is this to much Resistance? Could this be part of my problem? If so, does anyone know where this wire grounds to the body?

Your fuel injectors are connected in pairs. They are connected with a simple crimp that comes loose. Not sure of the pairing, but I'll bet 1 & 3 are paired and the crimp has come loose. Peal back the harness and you will find it.

I have done that as well....Please read my original post. I know that injector 1 and 3 are not working. I just can't figure out why. I suppose it could be the ECU, but the vehicle ran fine before it was parked a few years ago.

2ndgen- I will definitely give that a shot. but, a thought..... those 2 wires coming from the ECU, they are spliced together in the engine harness, and then they split to 4 wires to go to all of the injectors. So, it seems that even if one of the pins from the ECU wasn't working, then they should still work normally..... ]

Mike C- All injectors are new....see original post....

So they are wired together... The V6 is indeed 2 separate circuits, but the 4 is tied together... Have you checked for continuity between all the injectors? The injectors are split into 1 and 3 and 2 and 4 at the end though, so it has to be a wiring issue. If I were you I would recrimp and solder all the connections back together despite their checking out visually and with the ohm meter...

so, I re-soldered all the splices in the harness today, but i ran out of time and didn't get the plenum put back on yet. I also swithed the wires you suggested. i will put it together tomorrow, and I guess we'll see..... also I figured out where that E1 wire goes, and i clean up its contact with the manifold. It now reads 0.3 Ohms. which is a huge improvement, since before I read 5.3 ohms.

So, I got it all back together, and it is now running on 3 cylinders instead of 2... making some progress, but cylinder 1 is still not firing.... it has good spark and good compression... and i know that all the wiring is good, because i took the entire harness out of the truck and unwrapped the whole thing and inspected it... is it the injector? they are all new... well they are all reconditioned from Toyota Car Parts.... so i am inclined to think that it is not the injector.... what could it be?

I've seen fresh, rebuilt injecters stick. Give it a light tap with a long extention.
