Just thought of another easy test. Pull the return line that comes off the regulator. It's located at the firewall side of the fuel rail and runs from the regulator to the hardline coming off the frame. If you pull it off the frame (I think this can be done) you can put the hose in a can or something and see if fuel comes out when you run the pump.

Ok. I will try that tomorrow. I'm still hoping the pump is ok, but I will get a new pump if necessary.

Good boy.

Be very careful when you pull that plug out, a LOT of gas comes gushing out and it will make a huge stinky mess all over your floor. Have a fire extinguisher handy and a charged garden hose ready. Hope you have a BIG drain pan.

And then it will probably leak at the plug when you fill it back up again.

And the reality is ... you don't need to drain the tank to drop it. Though, if it's full, it is easier to handle on your back.

I'm leaving the protector off to see if it leaks at the plug. or anywhere else. Truck is in the street, which is covered in wet leaves. It has been pounding rain here for the last few weeks, so hard to see gas on the ground.
