Certainly does sound like it has restricted gas flow. Sometimes the lines can clog, blow air back through them to be sure they are open. Is the gas cap venting ok? Could be pulling a vacuum on the fuel tank. Easy to check anyway.

Sorry I have not been on here in a while. Been working a lot and messing with truck.

So here is where I'm at. I bought the manual for the truck and figured out what the timing should be at. I moved the timing to just about 0° TDC and at 2000 rpms it's about 13°with nothing un plugged. I switched my fuel jets from 135's to 140's and my air corrector jets from 180's to 165's. I have a 4070 carter fuel pump I installed with my gas regulator set at 2psi. I used a butane torch unlit and went around the gaskets to check for vacuum leaks and the rpms never went up. I Took it for a spin today after doing all that. Still same issue. Dying at about 35mph and backfiring when I slow down. Also when going up hill truck will slowly die (that is a float bowl adjustment correct?).

So this is where I'm at... I wish I could just take it to a mechanic and say here fix it, but I live in Michigan and it's old and foreign so there's not muchange help here.

Vacuum advance on side of dizzy?

Got it fixed! I never thought to check my intake gasket for leaks. The motor was polished and was over polished where the intake bolts up so it wouldn't make a good seal. Resurfaced, had carb rebuilt, new gaskets, runs great now.
