Let's be frank, theres not one thing to like about it, it's not changed in 30 years. ;)

Exactly right Tex. No one wants to buy a FRId Pro from the 90s, not even the folks at the Concours d’Elegance at Pebble Beach or those cats at Barrett-Jackson and they love the looks from the 90s, 80s, 70s, 60s, 50s, 40s,30s,20s,10s,00s etc. And they spend millions on those oddball cars and trucks! Go figure!

I'm not so sure Toyota will always sell as many as it can make. There has been a recent anomaly that is unlikely to continue. Higher priced SUVs are struggling to sell in many cases. BMW X7 is averaging 110 days on the lot. GMC Yukon is at 127 days. And Toyota's are in very short supply due to Toyota not producing very many, but I'm still not convinced Toyota is willing to slide to 3rd or 4th or ? in sales by continuing to lose market share.

David at Automotive Press says the 6th gen 4Runner will now likely come out in the 2026 model year with a Fall 2025 announcement. That means two more years of Gen 5 (not a surprise) but more importantly, two more years of SPECULATION threads!!!

At some point we are going to need a 250 Series section. We can't keep this in the GX section forever.

Why not? They're the same truck! It's all done with mirrors.

It's the TRId Wienermobile thats different. And the true Wienermobile was always a Toyota product and not Oscar-Meyer. Please! Oscar-Meyer only made them for Toyota back in the 90s...like Stayhere Puke made G Wagons.

Between David's "I've heard" (meaning he read the forums) and repeating himself three times, he has a history of twisting up some of the dates. Some sources have tried to nail down the 6th gen 4Runner start of production date which has been a little eluisive.

The current SOP for the 6th gen 4Runner is Q2 July 2024, but this could slip into Q3. So customer deliveries would start between Q3 and Q4 2024, this keeps it as a 2025 model year, not a 2026.

Further, just yesterday, my Plano source, who told me about the LC250 reveal also told me to expect the 4Runner reveal in Q1 2024. Why is this important, the reveal is typically 6 - 7 months prior to SOP and customer delivers, again, the dates line up for it to be a 2025 model, not a 2026 model.

Could this slip more, it's possible with Japan having to produce four new models within one year, the GX, the US LC250, the International LC250 and the 4Runner, however the current dates would have been set knowing all of the challenges.

You're entitled to your opinion/speculation just like everyone else is.

Trying to tell people who have an observation contrary to yours that they should speculate about the next LC somewhere else is bulls***
Okay.

If you don’t like the direction Toyota is taking that’s fine. I will not invalidate that as it’s valid for you. However if you don’t like it there’s no reason to argue against those who are interested.

There’s been much waste in this thread and we keep dialogue on point. Straight banter should be in chit chat.

I just want to say that I think you are doing a great job keeping the conversation relevant to constructive dialogue to the GX550/LC250 and you are totally keeping the dialogue on point by continuing to argue with jayp2 about something we stopped arguing about hours ago. 👍

You're missing the point along with a couple of your comrades

This isnt about Toyota as a brand/company or lineup of vehicles

Its about the Land Cruiser model.

This thread and posters seems to fall into two main camps of people.

Folks looking at the Lexus/LC as a DD that will shuttle around their kids soccer team with all the bells and whistles imaginable

The second group of people are folks that either grew up in 40's/60's and similar vehicles here in the US and are seeking a vehicle that is equally capable off road that is similarly not bogged down with tech that renders it near impossible to troubleshoot let alone repair issues.

To me the possibility of the 2TR-FE in the new LC is kind of amazing - of course that's on anybody's short list of the great Toyota engines and it'll more than stand up to LC's durability and reliability heritage, but will it disappoint the segment that always wants to push performance? It's a lack luster performer in the Tacoma now although you won't wear it out or break it. Or will they do something like turbo it or tune the snot out of it to get you up the on ramps with the rest of the morning traffic?

Also it makes sense to me that they would delay the new 5th gen 4R until next fall, to keep from queering LC's pitch and muddying the sales numbers.

maybe you should give tlc4x4 a call. i've heard they are good at rebuilding 40 and 60 series.
Yep - the old school hasn't let out for recess. Plenty of good old trucks out there, and more 70's coming in every year. If that's what someone wants, and they don't buy it, it's because they never had the money in the first place and are just typing.
