You're missing the point along with a couple of your comrades

This isnt about Toyota as a brand/company or lineup of vehicles

Its about the Land Cruiser model.

This thread and posters seems to fall into two main camps of people.

Folks looking at the Lexus/LC as a DD that will shuttle around their kids soccer team with all the bells and whistles imaginable

The second group of people are folks that either grew up in 40's/60's and similar vehicles here in the US and are seeking a vehicle that is equally capable off road that is similarly not bogged down with tech that renders it near impossible to troubleshoot let alone repair issues.
My triple locked LC300
can shuttle the kids to school in comfort
and go off road any place a stock 80 series with lockers can go pretty much while being way more comfortable to live with.

I am not looking for a negative argument that will lead to nowhere because I definitely see where you are coming from, from your perspective in the US market and how its been LC wise over the past few years, that you are looking for something pure and back to the traditional roots.

Maybe the US LC250 will have better off road angles than the LC300? and a front locker? And who knows what other surprises. Not long now I guess for us to find out.

The only thing I miss on the 300 is a manual transmission and the split tailgate, I love a manual out in the dunes ( love it on the 100 series ) but for most daily use applications and even some rocky obstacles, auto seems better in that regard, but I would still prefer a manual overall.

Makes me wonder if any global version of the 250 will be offered with a manual in any market around the world?

@jayp2 in all due respect, we all understand your views and appreciate it, everyone gets to spend their money as they choose. Now that we all acknowledge your views, can we please just move onto new speculation, the reason most of us subscribed to this thread.

For me, I did not like what Ford was doing with the Bronco, cheap materials and constantly new reported quality issues, I voted with my feet and came to the Toyota camp.

While you may not like what Toyota is doing, the only sure way for you to change it is to vote with your feet or apply for a job at Plano Headquarters and report back in one year how your change agenda is working there.

I heard Toyota has a new decal they are going to put on every North American TNGA-F vehicle straight from the factory!

There will always be those who won’t stop endlessly complaining about the rain instead of just putting on a raincoat and getting on with their lives.

Again, you and others missed the entire point which is why various people periodically come back to it and similar discussions.

If you dont like the perspective/information posted by someone else either be an adult and ignore their posts or for the triggered folks use the ignore user option

This is not really about the Land Cruiser though. I believe Toyota effective bifurcated the Land Cruiser (here in America at least) between the wagon Land Cruiser and the Jeep/Bronco competitor FJ Cruiser. What you need is a new and improved FJ Cruiser, leave the Land Cruiser to those of us who like the "school bus" trucks.

To me the possibility of the 2TR-FE in the new LC is kind of amazing - of course that's on anybody's short list of the great Toyota engines and it'll more than stand up to LC's durability and reliability heritage, but will it disappoint the segment that always wants to push performance? It's a lack luster performer in the Tacoma now although you won't wear it out or break it. Or will they do something like turbo it or tune the snot out of it to get you up the on ramps with the rest of the morning traffic?

Also it makes sense to me that they would delay the new 5th gen 4R until next fall, to keep from queering LC's pitch and muddying the sales numbers.

The 2TR family of engines will not come to the States as an option.

It is a ROW option for General Markets that require basic engines that can run on s***ty fuel and require little MX over the long run as well as little knowledge to work on it. It has effectively become the 1FZ-F or the 1HZ option but in a 4 cylinder iteration.

This engine option will mainly be for the NGO market or places like Africa, South America, ME, etc.

You have to wonder why Nissan does not redesign and reintroduce the Xterra back to the US?
Way different company now, and they make way too much money selling Rogues and Sentras to worry about a heritage focused 4x4. They point to the QX80. Which overseas can be equipped with a rear and center locker if my memory serves. I know the one sold overseas is a lot more capable out of the box for 4x4ing and Broverlanding.

I’m really disappointed in this thread. No one is contending how contentious it is for Toyota to give us so few and smaller cup holders. I think it’s their way of saying that Americans need to lose some weight bc our Buckys cups will no longer fit.
I took your complaint seriously and did a little research and where you see a problem I see an opportunity. Behold in all its glory.
