With the headliner out is also a great time to seal up the factory roof rack holes if needed.
I am one of the lucky one's where the port installer was on holiday when my rig came off the boat. No factory rack, rear deflector or running boards ever added. owed to that guy, long ago!

Well...headliner is gonna come out....so here we go. I ordered some of these:

I've been running a pair of the smaller ones inside the ARB bull bar marker lights for 3+ years, with no issue, got rid of the junk the ARB shipped with, I actually have these hooked up to turn signals behind the amber ARB lens (they get attention! )

And another one is my electric bike headlight (I hardwired to the battery and they are embarrassingly good has a bike headlight). They are low profile, well made an bright enough for setting up camp with 180 degree throw too.

I figure will either use these as rear aux light, under hood engine bay light or mount them to the rack as work lights. We'll see what happens. I have an extra PIAA lighting harness that I might run up there to the back, "just in case"....

And happened on some of this as warehouse deal for $30 so, why not?!?

I just wrapped up my Birfield job this weekend. I had forgotten what an incredibly dirty this job is.

One the driver side I had room to spare when installing the snap ring on the outer axle end. On the passenger side it was a tight fit. I inserted a nut in the axle end and gave it a good tug with pliers to ensure the axle was pulled out as far as possible. I am pretty confident I fully seated the bearing races and seal in the hub. New Timken bearings and races. I torqued the hub adjusting nut to 43 ft-lbs per FSM to get everything cinched together and ultimately at 20 ft-lbs to set the preload. After a highway test drive both hubs measured the same temp on the IR thermometer and everything spins smoothly. It still bothers me that one side had a tight fit on that snap ring. Is this cause for concern?
I had the same issue on mine when I did a full refresh on the front axle. I would have sworn I drove the races on the passenger side all the way in, but when I pulled it back apart (it was bugging me) I found the inner had a small gap.

Meanwhile. I didn’t want to take a pic, but one of the kids sat on the couch with a nice glob of Palladium on their backside. Needless to say, my responsibility. Spent the last hour cleaning that:

my family recipe goes as follows for cleaning up messes like this.
1) buy wife new pajamas or something warm and fleece-like (in summer: beach cover-up or sundress) (YWMV)
2) buy wife dinner from fav take out place.
3) grovel
4) repeat as long necessary
Once that is done:
5) apply heap of baking soda wait 15min, vacuum and repeat
6) mix tsp. dawn with juice of half a lemon juice
7) re-grovel and or repeat step 1 or 2
8) with stiff bristle brush scrub in cleaner mix
9) sponge in water to soak and re scrub
10) wet dry vac the area
11) PRAY (while the area dries)
12) be prepared to repeat and or repent
I hate to mention it now, after all the suffering and hate and discontent, but Colman fuel (white gas) takes grease right out of cloth, with no smell left behind.

Woulda shoulda coulda, but that’s a hot tip!!! Will try that....errr, next time!
Good news is my family recipe worked too!!!

meanwhile in the driveway, the heater and AC and rear seat heat is on full blast drying up Lake Leakiyota. :bang:

If you have some string trimmer line you can try feeding it back and getting the lines clear

They are clean as a whistle :) I think it’s coming through the gap between sunroof and roof seal and overwhelming the system or that rear line is disconnected. Haven’t had a chance to look in depth this morning.
I kinda just want to tape of the the whole think with that 4” gorilla underwater tape and banish the functionality to the phantom zone!!!!

there’s so much water on the back floor that I think I need to pull up carpet to dry it out.

i think some people have found the tubes to be not extending all the way down the way they should and depositing water internally. you might check that too.

Well this is an unexpected surprise...
Went digging to see if door cards were wet, found these. Feel like I won the lottery.
Don’t know how I didn’t notice this when I replaced the lock motors.
In front and rear holes under factory grills.

Now curious if any of the other speakers have been swapped. Hmmmmm.....

Guess it might be time to upgrade the head unit...while I’m in here....

I was just thinking about changing the title of this thread to reflect that fact.

Yes. Behind OEM grills. No idea which PO put them there, but my guess it was the second owner between 2008 and 2016 I’d have to get behind them to see the model, but they are pioneers....I shoulda put tape measure on them.

The one next to glove box is still a factory speaker.
Were those behind the OEM speaker grills? If so, what model are they?

It's a common swap, I have these in mine as well. The speakers under the dash and above the 3rd row are often disconnected and left in place when swapping to a modern head unit.

For basic decent audio speakers in all 4 doors plus a small sub under the driver's seat gets the job done.

Do the flat 8" powered subs fit with that alarm box under there? or do you move that box, which seems to be zip tied  to the carpet. I had an 8" bazooka bass tube in Subie outback, never had a home and just rolled about in the back seat floor, but sounded awesome.

Currently looking at the Sound Ordinance one from Crutchfield.

Maybe i think most get those underwear units and a bracket to put in the rear pass cargo panel

Found a bunch of scratch and dent deals at Crutchfield. Sony headunit with the volume knob / car play and the SO 8" sub...out the door with wiring kits for $400 and some change...why not! forgot to order the back-up camera, will just grab one from amazon.

Sure glad I’m in therapy...today was a rough one.

Seat belts showed up. Finally. Just not going install till I pull the headliner.

Whenever that happens....
