@SNLC when does it burn diesel? It looks amazeballs.

More info;

Soon. 😂

Seriously though this has been a major project. Everyone can see in the thread how involved it has been from fab to paint to building the FTE from the block up. I know John is really excited to get the Cruiser but he lives very far from us. So it has got to be 110% before sending home.

The exhaust got pretty difficult in the back around the rear suspension, axle and subtank. There is just very little room to route it. Plus we did mount this body on the 80 chassis as low as we could which doesn’t leave a ton of room for 3” exhaust. If you look at the last pics I posted you can see we have the rear end sitting on the bump stops. Thats so we know the exhaust will clear if John fully compresses the suspension. It takes time to cover every single thing in a big build.

At least twice a week for the last few months we have had to order this little part or that little part. You know ALL about this Galen! 😂 That is just the way it works on these big one off builds. I wish I could say that a person could just order everything to do a build like this before starting the build but that is super difficult for us here in the USA where a large majority of this was never sold here. Parts to build this Cruiser have come from ten or more sources worldwide. Some things are back ordered for long periods of time. Some things are NLA and solutions have to be found. And then all the custom work as well.

We are close though to starting it. Exhaust finished out, exhaust heat shields made, air box fabbed and maybe a few hard brake lines still to make before filling everything with fluids.

Cheers

And THIS is how you keep pushing the boundaries of what is capable with these builds, Ian.

Spectacular.

Hard brake line plumbing done, obviously a proportioning valve is also installed.

Chris started building the air box. In case you haven’t seen some of our other FT/FTE builds, these use OEM 200 series v8 filters.

Where are your sourcing the brake lines? Look OEM.

damn... its almost TOO shiny 😆

The ⏰ is ticking on first start up now and anticipation is high.

Not only is it a brand new Cruiser we built the engine from the short block up. I/we have built plenty of engines but this is the first at least for me where we started with nothing. Every other build there has at least been a core to start with engine wise for scabbing hardware or this and that part. Not this one, very excited for first start and first drive. Not going to rush anything though, vroom vroom or should I say rattle rattle when we are ready.

Cheers

Just a brainfart - while you had the brake vacuum booster off, you shouldve changed it for a Dual Diaphragm unit, I swopped mine out on my 78 Series FTE and the improvement in braking was almost 100%

Well we planned to do a first start today. Didn’t start trying until 4pm.

Got a bit of an issue with fuel delivery but we trouble shot that and believe we have it mostly figured out. So perhaps on Monday.

Got the air box back from powder coat at about 5pm.
