Giardia might not kill ya, but you might wish it had if it hits you bad enough.

Incubation period on giardia is one to three weeks. So if you were exposed last weekend you shouldn't be manifesting any symptoms yet. If you're really lucky you can get the full experience going right in the middle of the trip...Last weekend's backpacking trip I didn't even use my filter. I'm still alive.

Let's get this party started already! Can't wait until Saturday!
There is so much downed wood from last winter it's not even funny! You may have to travel a bit away from the established camps, though.Okay, one more total noob question. Should I bring wood? Are their places to have campfires? Or is it all cook stoves?

I don't think fire restrictions are in effect yet, either.
I just checked with the Eldorado National Forest and there are currently no campfire restrictions. But, you do need a permit to have a campfire, or even operate a gas stove for that matter. I seem to recall that it's been discussed on this thread previously, but if you don't have your permit go here Prevent Wildfire - California Campfire Permit Online and get your permit online. I always save mine to my phone.Okay, one more total noob question. Should I bring wood? Are their places to have campfires? Or is it all cook stoves?
@Bad Coco , just to clarify, the Springs are private property and we will certainly abide by the owners wishes! It is my understanding that Buck Island is Eldorado National Forest territory, and the nice lady in Placerville just told me there were no restrictions. So, please confirm/deny that.Do not bring wood. Fire restrictions are in place and you can only use Propane/gas to cook using your camp stove. Yes, you have to have a fire permit for that as well. We will be having a camp fire in the Springs only. Please, no other fires without the permission of the care takers Mark and Maria.
Thanks for the info. The reason I was asking is that I am tight on room and I didn't want to bring wood unless I can use it. But I was hoping to grill some steaks and some burgers. But I can live with the stove.
Yes. Good output. The lighter thingie is annoying hard to turn, I hope it gets easier with some use.Yes, I need to spend more money on cooking stuff. - do you like that stove? I saw it at REI today.
Yup. Two sizes, too:Is that grill thing from Lodge? I tried to find it online but couldn't.
