Toyota technical bulletin I found on the interwebz

Is it likely these are already out there in other parts of the world?
Over the past couple weeks, I've seen a white one, not from up close, but its got crisp lines on the fenders and doors, a bit like the older ones or a 60's series.
That current shape has been out since 2007. I don't know what if any styling changes will be made for this new update

Driver will no longer need to get out and physically lock the front hubs.

And what a back breaking chore it is!

More electronic crap just what most farmers want

^ 25 years. Not too many people are interested in a $40k truck with relatively zero comfort.

Ever been to Australia or the Middle East? As far as comfort goes ,they are not bad considering their ruggedness.

I hear the toyota V8 diesels are having regulr problems with the injector pump.
And a very costly fix as well.
Perhaps some of the aussies will confirm this.

Toyota was robbing owners blind because the injectors reportedly had to be re programmed and only Toyota had the program. One injection shop told me they were waiting to get their hands on the program and promised it would be cheaper. Not sure of the truth in that and it was some time back. Some of the other problems were the alternator being down too low and copping a lot of mud and water.
They continue to sell well and its hard to find an owner who regrets buying one.
As Locked79 says, prefilters that stop contaminates getting near the fuel injection is a must. This will cause problems in any common rail injection system.

They must be getting used to it because it popping up on all sorts machinery now like harvesters, tractors and earth moving equipment.

I have never seen an LHD 70 with the VDJ. Only the petrol 1GR.

they are not compatible coz the place of the top mounted IC with the LHD configuration ( brake booster ) it might have other complications, but that's it's the more obvious to me ..

I'd like think Toyota offering the tan color on their truck in America is a sign that they're considering bring the 70 here. But it's not.

"Toyota is also fitting the single-cab model with side curtain airbags and a driver’s knee airbag. The truck is expected to receive a five-star safety rating, which is remarkable for a 32-year old design. Other additions include electronic stability control, traction control, hill-start assist, and cruise control."

Oh, sooooo close to compliant......:grinpimp:

"Toyota has no plans on selling the truck in Europe. Similarly, it stands virtually no chance of returning to the United States."

Sonofabitch........:bang:

Let's called a partial victory ..? at least will be still produced ..

I've discussed this at length elsewhere, but Toyota USA would only be cannibalizing their other 4x4 sales if they brought in the 70 Series. I say this having worked at Toyota Motor Sales HQ in Torrance in the 90s for 4 years, 1 year in Strategic Planning, so I am not just guessing.

Toyota are also more profitable selling US-built trucks like the Tacoma, Sequoia, Tundra- which is another reason not to import the Araco/Toyota Auto Body-built 70. US drivers love trucks, but they also love all of the amenities you see in a modern US market truck that the 70 Series doesn't yet have (and I dont want the 70 to have, thats why it aint a Prado.)

If you really need a solid front axle truck in the US, you can get an F250 or other heavy duty full size. It may be small consolation to US owners but I believe Toyota sells 10 4x4 models in the US, more than in any other market. Just not the 70.
