One upgrade that I recommend is adding LED bulbs. Almost all bulbs on 16 are LED but turn signals (7443 bulbs), reverse (921 bulbs) and license plate (194 short bulbs due to space). I shop for bulbs at vldes.com. For reverse and tail lights recommend 5k color so aligns with the rest of bulbs and you don't have the blue tint kids use it. Quick tip for front turn signals. There is a limited space to put turn signals so when shopping at VLEDS.com buy the V3 solution. All plug and play and looks awesome.

Thank you all for comments; at work, but will reply individually tonight. Personally spoke with a Toyota tech at Jacksonville port; received verbal confirmation that running boards, roof racks, and rear spoilers are factory -- not port -- installed. Tech I spoke with visually confirmed the fact while on phone. These were port-installed features "years ago," he said, but now almost nothing is done at port to new Land Cruisers, except for the paint film. Paint film also has Toyota warranty implications, so more thought required there. Good news is -- number of decisions to make between now and Saturday just decreased significantly.

I really don't think it would have mattered, as I'm fairly certain the bolt holes are there whether a rack or running boards are mounted.

Honestly, I suspect most people don't usually need more than the factory roof rack...save for the off-roaders here who may need more capacity. Roof racks come off if you want, as do running boards. Removing running boards will take you all of about 10 minutes to simply remove the bolts (be sure to screw the bolts BACK INTO the holes...to keep them from filling with crud). :)

They don't cover as much as the Weathertech floor liners.

Do you have the WeatherTechs? If so, how would you describe their "washability"? By that I mean... When you take them out...do you hose them off? Or...? And when/if you do...how does cleaning go?

The reason I ask is... They seem soooooooo nice, that it makes me wonder if I'd end up feeling like I'm just messing them up (staining, etc.)... where I don't really care about messing up lesser liners/mats, etc. If they ARE easy to clean & remove gunk from...then that makes them worth it to me, as you can't take out the carpet to clean it. :)

Any thoughts?

Had the Toyota all weather mats and switched to Weathertech (for both cruisers) and they are very easy to clean. Don't remember my old ones ever staining.

Agree with M1911, they cover so much better.

Thanks. That settles it... Gonna order a set.

Status quo:

Cargo Net – Envelope

As rhllc and T4Runner pointed out – nice to have, and useful for what it is.

First Aid Kit
See above. Plus like that it has mounting strips that help the kit remain firmly in place.

Glass Breakage Sensor (GBS)
Peace of mind.

Remote Engine Starter
Gets really hot here in the summer.

Wireless Headphones
For the kids. And camping trips when nobody else wants to watch Blazing Saddles late night.

Alloy Wheel Locks
Peace of mind.

Paint Protection Film
Still need clarification on warranty implications. If warranty mentioned below refers solely to the paint film, just as soon skip the Toyota paint film and get a nicer product after market. From website:

The Toyota Genuine Accessory Warranty will only apply when the installation is performed by a trained Toyota-approved installer. Please see dealer for details.

Requested detailed warranty information from dealer.

All-Weather Mat Package
Weathertechs not yet available for 2016 Land Cruiser yet, so these for now.

I mostly take mine out and just dump out the sand. I live in New England so in the summer I'm tracking in sand from the beach, and in the winter I'm tracking in snow and traction sand. They are relatively flat, without deep grooves, so it is easy to just dump them out. Because they cover a lot and are relatively rigid, it can take a bit of fiddling to pull them out.

Mine have always been lighter colors, so they can get a little dirty over time. I'm not anal about that, so I really don't know how hard it would be to return them to looking new. If you get black matts, you might look cleaner for longer. They will keep your carpet looking new.

One of the mudders here has tried both Weathertech floorliners and Husky matts and prefers the Husky matts. I've only used the Weathertech -- I had them for more than a decade in my '03 4Runner, and liked them enough that I bought a set for my Land Cruiser. I like the fact that the Weathertechs are designed and made here in the US.

Do you also have original carpet mats? Liking the idea of having them; in case they become scarce in the future. First car I ever bought was a near-mint 20-year old BMW sedan. It was as old as me at the time. Came with all the original tools, first aid, emergency supplies, brochure, touch up paint -- EVERYTHING. Original owner was the man. Part of me wants to be like him with this LC.

I have the Terra interior. It is nice, I think the Terra interior works better in person than in Toyota's photos. In photos the metallic (like) surfaces seem to stand out more than when one is actually in the car. I'd guess due to the lighting they used to take the pictures. Going with the Terra interior seemed like a pretty big risk when I ordered, I thought it might be too busy, but I'm glad I did.

Thanks again, rhllc; do you mind describing the "metallic (like)" interior surfaces in a little more detail? Wife calls it "cheap plastic" and you also see it referred to as "brushed aluminium" -- what is the truth?

If anyone thinks the Land Cruiser has "cheap" anything....then they need to go hop into 95% of other new cars on the market.
When they do that...suddenly the Land Cruiser's plastic parts no longer seem "cheap."

The Land Cruiser weighs nearly 3 TONS...because it is mechanically built like a TANK.

Heck...even REAL tanks have plastic parts on the interior! :)

Where the Cruiser is NOT built like a tank...a few of us replace those parts with steel bumpers, etc. But for daily drivers...most do not benefit from steel bumpers.

Jooones, in mine the Toyota 1st aid kit actually fits into a designated pocket on the inside of the passenger side cargo area compartment. I think I posted a pic on a different thread a ways back.

Re First Aid Kit:

I'd probably opt for a more complete first aid kit like the one at the link below. It will be far more complete...less money...and then you can stick some other small, useful item in that little cubby in the back.

(Or maaaany others like it)

Toyota is not known for their first aid kits...and surely just rebadge someone else's kit. :)

Trust me; she means well. She's just in the camp that wants Lexus-caliber interior refinement. Would go the LX route if not for the "bling" factor. Love LC for its subtle awesomeness. To the untrained eye, it's just a Toyota SUV; in reality it's a world-class, luxury all-terrain monster.

Thank you T4Runner; will dig up that pic.

Ya... She's allowed to like that stuff. :))) Personally? I think the LC is VERY nice inside. It is a luxury SUV... Lexus version? Way too blingy for me. Heck...the LC is too blingy...but the truck itself is like no other. Throw some Rock Warrior Wheels on it...some slightly larger AT tires...and you will have yourself a very different looking Cruiser. And then? You slowly add little things here and there (like an ARB bumper)...all in the name of "SAFETY" of course! :)

She'll come around...

Here's the difference. All stock...except for RW Wheels and slightly larger ATs. I think it's a much better looking critter this way:

Oh! And don't forget to play up the SAFETY FACTOR in Snow, etc.!! Heehee!
(And it's even the TRUTH!)

Great stuff, Markuson; and you're probably right. Will most make a last-minute call on this one. Thanks again for all feedback.

Trust me... You'll find other little things you'll happily stash in that little space they leave for the tiny first aid thing... :)

Oh... and see pics above this post...just in case she fears different wheels/tires will make it look too truckish...

Is it normal to second-guess the paint choice as purchase time approaches. Knee-jerk choice was magnetic grey; then started thinking about the Atlanta sun. Looked at blizzard. Read a bunch of stuff online. Looked at silver. Now back on magnetic grey. Does the choice really affect resale/longevity? Will be parked outside during non-office hours for foreseeable future.
