There was a route that we took several years ago with OAUSA.net that i think went down El Diablo Drop Off?, through The Squeeze? and then through this canyon that was washed out with mud 3 ft high in one spot. I had my Suburban and went through with out any issues, but everyone was very surprised i even tried it. Does anyone here remember that? Brent? I'm with SDNATIVE about wanting to try some tougher terrain.

I'll be there. It will be good to see you all again and catch up.

That sounds like Diablo drop off, through the canyon at the bottom (I guess it's now called broken axle gulch) and out into fish creek wash between sandstone canyon and the wind caves. The area I am referring to is out to the west end of fish creek wash, hapaha flat, split rock and the base of pinyon drop off / heart attack hill. It's a nice drive but a few miles and we would need to return the same way we came.

Pinyon drop off/Heart Attack Hill is only accessible through the Squeeze. I'm only aware of one 80 series that's even attempted the Squeeze and made it. Diablo Drop off goes down into the Fish Creek was area doesn't it?

I'm game for anything on Saturday. Sunday leaving I'll have the trailer in tow and assume you will to Dave.

80s make it through the squeeze. Although, I did get a few door scrapes due to a poor spot. The other 80s in the group made it without issue, even those with flares.

I thought it was off camber enough to cause problems on the DS rear? I've camped up on Pinion Mountain a mile or two short of the squeeze and drove down there once to take a look at it.

Boyd had to leave Bubba to guard the trucks several years ago since he couldn't join us on the hike. He did a great job too! Too bad as I'd guess he one of the few dogs to have hiked the entire trail around Hole In The Rocks out in the Mojave Desert...National Park! He did a superb job on the rings up the back side...with a little assistance of course. Boyd got the raw end of that deal.

I'm in for the wind caves this year although sadly there will be no watchdog to guard the trucks:(

Brent pull the trailer through the squeeze. Will make for good pictures and story. :hillbilly:

The trailer would fit...maybe minus one tent, but the off camber would likely do a number on the Inti rack!

It's the door panels that get jacked up. Inti should be fine.
Going down Hart Attack Hill with a trailer... would be a little hairy!

I hope this 'going through the squeeze' is simply a theoretical discussion for entertainment, as nowhere am I implying that we should do this. If you go back and read my post, I am proposing we go to the west end of fish creek wash and to the base of heart-attack hill/pinyon dropoff.

If that was the same recovery I am thinking of, we actually met the pilot of that helicopter earlier in the day at a HRO M&G. If you watch part two of that video it looks like a street bike parked by the ranger jeep???

Wow, forgot about that thread.

I tried to sign up for an account on the American Adventurist forum but have not received a confirmation email. I'd like to get on the waitlist for the rendezvous, but need an account. Is there a secret handshake or something?

**Edit** Well never mind, as soon as I hit post I thought to check my spam folder. There it was. Signed up and should be hitting the wait list soon.

I may be a last minute participant for the dutch oven competition. With work schedule being so crazy between working in Scottsdale and SoCal, I don't even know where I'll be working the week before this event. All I know is I'm taking Friday off to get out to the desert! If I'm driving home from Scottsdale Thursday, I'll have little to no prep time!

Does that mean you won't be doing the Squeeze?

man that video is just horrible driving combined with horrible spotting. I hate to be so critical but that guy spotting was waving his hands willy nilly. Why did he keep pointing towards the hill right before she rolled?

would love to come along for a run if you guys plan one out this way. I would try the squeeze, why not? Done it in my 40 a bunch of times but the 80 would be interesting!
