Hello everyone,

Trying to reach out to the forum to figure out a remote start issue. I have a 2014 LX570 with 100k miles, my factory remote start stopped working after replacing the key fob battery. I have the RES packager/feature or whatever they call it which does not require an enform subscription.
I tried a lot of suggestions available on the internet along with the owner's manual. I cannot get the remote start to work with the start sequence. Only think that changes was the key fob battery. One thing I could not figure out was valet mode, I do not know if that is a thing on 2014 LX570, so I could not verify if the LX got out of the valet mode.

I have tried both key fobs, sad part is I changed the battery of both the fobs at the same time :banghead:.

Any suggestions will be highly appreciated. Attaching the owner manual which I followed to the letter, no luck.

I was just re-reading your problem and I saw your 2014 model year with low mileage. If it is driven infrequently and your battery is not in good condition/charged then it might not meet the minimum voltage to allow remote start. If you drive the vehicle for 10 minutes and then park, turn it off, and then try to remote start—is it successful?

I drive around 200+ miles a week, almost daily. Little ironical with a work-from-home job.
I have tried starting it sitting on a restaurant patio, no luck. I emailed the service tech from Lexus dealership today to see if he suggests anything.

I noticed with mine (2010 LC) that the KEYLESS ENTRY would work from a decent distance away, no problem

But for some reason, the remote start would only work if basically standing next to the truck.

This is with 2 different fobs, and both brand new batteries.

Its bizarre, but the way the OEM remote start is designed, and shuts off when you open the door is freaking stupid, so i dont bother using it anymore, and dont care to dig into why.

Try standing right next to it and try it, just for grins

Following for my eventual 200 purchase. Does the LX remote start system that's not dependent on Enform have the same idiotic traits as the LC system? I.e. shuts off when you open a door, only runs for 10 minutes, and only works from a short distance away?

If you can convince yourself that those are features, you’re in for a treat!

I take it the LX has the same issues? I thought I had read that it didn't, so I was optimistic the Lexus engineers had overruled the Toyota engineers with a brief dose of logic and sanity.
They actually did with the all-speed ACC that works on the LX but shuts down on the LC at 32mph. I have a feeling that for the remote start it did not happen though.

Tried it, no luck.
The service tech mentioned that something has to be enabled, I will find out more detials when I get my differential service done next month. Need to save up $700 for it.

Tell me you aren’t paying seven hundred ****ing dollars for diffs and transfer case service.
Yes .
:hurting:

The front diff $184.51
Rear diff $259.11
The transfer case runs $183.21

Previous owner did not service it, I am trying to be preventative. I do not have the skill to work on the truck with exception of filter swaps.

Just did the AHC service for $700 2 weeks ago, ODO is around 101k miles. Lexus over where I live has a tech that apparently is the lead and has 31 years of experience

No. No! **** that. The labor should be about 1.0hr for all three and with cost of fluid it should be less than half that—tops. I work for a dealer and I think that’s absolutely absurd.

So the dealer here (Lexus of West Houston).
They just dont negotiate or rebate the price, the guy said no matter how work you get done, the labor prices are fixed. I am scared to go to the other dealer in town, because they messed up the radiator fluid level on my wife's 2024 RX350.

Call a few Toyota dealers in the area and get a quote for 4wd service. Please don’t spend that much on just diffs and transfer case fluid drain and fill.

Not a bad idea, did not think of that. I had a 2011 LC(now sold) which I serviced last year for $450. Guessing both LC and LX share the platform so toyota techs should be qualified to do it.

I will add that servicing the 3 differentials is easier than changing the oil. The hardest part is taking the front skid plate off. Any semi reputable mechanic could do the work. Do you have any independent shops around that you would trust to do an oil change? If so, check with them.

The work is as simple as: pull the fill plug, pull the drain plug, replace drain plug, fill with oil until it spills out the fill hole, replace fill plug.
