There are some areas along the Bradshaw Trail and near the Rendezvous camp where one could do some rock hounding.

Agate, jasper, and chalcedony can be found at Chuckwalla Well and Mesquite Spring along the Bradshaw Trail and along Augustine Pass.

Just west of the camp site, along the Bradshaw is a turn off for Spring Canyon where green and red jasper can be found. Geodes can be found off Chuckwalla Springs Road, west of Graham Pass and north of Bradshaw.

Thx!!!!! Nice to see you trolling here too!

I plan on leaving early so should not be a problem making the Patton Museum by noon. It's a little more time to get there through Borrego but a much more peaceful drive. :steer:

I'm up for any outing. Heard there is a geode bed out there but not sure where.

We should be heading out Friday morning (specific time to be determined) too via the 8 to the 79 to the 78...

Maybe we can meet up somewhere along the way.

Dan, Steve, do you want to meet up for the drive out. Where is a good meeting location and what time are you planning on leaving?

Looks like mud will be down this week for software upgrade?

I'l be leaving my place by 7:30. We could meet at the CA-79/Japatul Valley road exit at 8:00 if that works for you.

Oops... I just looked at the coordinates and realized this is not Borrego :whoops:

What route are you going to take?

I am near Del Mar and it's easier for me to go through Ramona and maybe we can meet in Julian if you are going through Scissors Crossing and over to the 86 through Borrego? Or, are you going out the 8. JLMK...

Julian works. How about 8:45 - 9:00 at the gas station on the east end of town?

That may be a little too early for us, but I'll PM you my # to make it easy.

Understood. If we don't see you on the trail look forward to seeing you in camp.

I'll be heading out Saturday morning at some point. Wish I could do Red Canyon with you guys.

Looks like I got be at work Fri and Sat due to urgent issue so I'll won't be coming to DR and won't meet for the caravan at Carl's Jr off Green River in Corona. Have funs guys.

Pass the word around for my open spot.

Great catching up with everyone. I'll try and post up some photos in the next week after I catch up on my work.

Great trip, thanks for allowing a Taco amidst the greatness of all the amazing 80's. I would love to go on any future trips with y'all.

Travis and I had a great time hanging out with everyone. All the kids looked like they had a good time also. I also enjoyed my new roof top tent. Now to just streamline some of my gear and probably get rid of some things.

The family and I had a great time. It was good catching up with some of you and finally meeting the rest of you in camp. We look forward to going out with the group again.

March 21-23, 2014 marked the 4th annual SoCal Desert Rendezvous, organized and hosted by the crew at American Adventurist. (http://americanadventurist.com/Forum/forum.php) This was our second time attending this event. A few weeks before the event, the super secret location is reveled with a set of GPS coordinates- Google Maps cut and paste: 33.599581,-115.536937

This is a very laid back, free event which features desert cleanups, trail runs, a potluck, raffle, dutch oven competition, steel shoot, swap meet, and of course a big campfire for all to enjoy. There were even some OAUSA folks there to host some amateur radio testing. Its great getting together with fellow adventurers with a variety of awesome vehicles, along with great food & drink at a remote desert location.

Click here for my photos and write up.

Good times for sure!
