Tis' the season to romp around the woods with chainsaws and various cruisers in search of the perfect tree.

Any ideas on where a good place to go would be?

I don't think I'll be able to make the Christmas tree run, I'm working weekends until Sunday Dec 15th, and thats probably too late for most people to get a tree

I'll definitely be going for a run. I don't know when or where I'll be going, but if a club run doesn't materialize, we could do a two cruiser run.

sounds good dude, Ill bring all manners of tree removal tools

Seeing as im leaving for BCIT on the 2nd, we should probably do something sooner rather than later...

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's about 50% whether I can go this Saturday or not. I'll try to figure it out asap and let you know. Depends on if my wife is called into work or if she'll be home to take care of the kids and stuff like that.

Well I might be talked into some mild wheeling (non-scratchy) on Saturday but I think it's a bit early for a cut tree... it would drop all its needles before Christmas! Part way through December would be better I think.

With holiday parties etc. it is only going to get harder to get out from now on.

I should know today if this Saturday will work for me. Otherwise, next Sunday will work too.

Warning, potholes were brutal on this road last year. Probably still bad. Shouldnt be any bad tree scratching on the main roads though.

We could meet at the A&W in Sooke? Could leave the A&W by 9am or so? (meet earlier if want coffee).

Sweaty, you have a spare tire right?

I was up there a month ago. No gates. No scratching, lots and lots of pot holes. The trail through the slash from Jordan main to Butler main is all dug out again and un passable. Have a good trip, I might get my ass out of bed and come meet y'all for a coffee in the a.m.

Hellen Keller could find a good X-mas tree up there.

OK, looks like I'm good to go tomorrow. I was thinking of the same area. I went in this area last year at this time. Where your yellow dot is in the top right of your picture there is a road that crosses to the back side of the reservoirs, and opens up a whole new world. Really nice back there. We went up quite a ways on that last year, but ran out of time. Maybe we could try that again if that connector road by the yellow dot is still open? Not only do I have 1 spare, I have 2 "All Terrain" spares 9@ the A&W sounds pretty neat This will be the ultimate test for the updated frame, see how she holds up on the very road that broke her in the beginning

Would be good to see you for coffee in the morning. I should be there by 8:30am

Is this connection different than the one you are talking about (this is between diversion and bear reservoirs)?

I dont have my map with me (yes I use paper maps lol) I might have my names a bit wonky.

I think that's the same area. Realistically there is no need to go up that far to find a tree, there are plenty starting right after turning off West coast rd. Not that we are really supposed to cut those down  They do fall onto cruiser roofs from time to time. Heck one member once found a tree in the middle of West Coast rd. Seems that tree fell onto a vehicles roof and then jumped off again a ways down the road. Wierd.

A pic from last year.... Morb's family and my family went up Shawigan way.

Haha, thats hilarious! :D

Yeah, I know we don't need to go that far; just want to make a good day out of it and see some country is all. Just an excuse to get out. ;)
