Why you gotta throw me under the bus like that? I had a plan and was getting it done. Just because you wanted to use half a roll of duct tape and have his power steering pump looking like it had a toothache with no tooth fairy in sight...
Gotta love the Bossman! Jrob had his own personal pit crew on this trip. 2 broken spring pins in one day! Good thing the boy carries extras. Georg and Charles were a blast. Just the name calling on the trail was worth the price of admission. I laughed more on this trip than I have in a long time. Didn't get mad one time (Greg and Chris).
Jrob and I didn't know what we were going to get out of this trip since we didn't see a lot of the park last time but let me tell you there is a lot to see and do. Had a blast with you guys!
To the Lone Star guys, Great event as always. Good food, band, raffle and party!
Had a blast with the skeleton Cottonland Crew!, and dam glad you are part of it bossman.
Bodean, Lenny and myself boarded the train at the station around 6:40 Wednesday morning, next stop was scheduled for 8:35 in Monroe. We picked up bossman, got some diesel, grabbed a snack, and headed west....with a load of Sherry's famous brownies I might add.
Next stop was just outside of Dallas...(I believe), where we decided to weight the train, and, of course, get more fuel! Upon getting the results of the "weight-in", we all said "Holy s***"...........25,980 pounds!
Pulling into Brownwood, Texas Bodean decided he needed a battery...of course, as usual the "Purdy Truck" needs nothing except gas and a driver.
12 hours after boarding and 4 fuel stops we finally pull into K2!!! Hot Dam!
Backed the trailer beside butch's cabin, Lenny & Bossman pitched their tents...(ha-ha)
Thursday morning we tackled fenceline with no problem.......(other than Bodean & Lenny just about running over me)...Seriously!!!!!! This was possible with the help of our trusty spotter getting us up the slab and though the "tippy" part(hate that part).
That evening Lenny and myself went exploring the back forty. We found some cool stuff and also found a minitruck in a bad place with both front springs broke(bummer), offered helped, then commenced to drinking MORE beer and exploring.
Friday and Saturday were great days. Watching Josh(jbc on mud) and Charles(fj40charles on mud) doing sick ledges and hill climbs.
Bossman took el toro down a hellava spot with georg spotting.....I really hated to watch!
Tallies for the weekend:
Purdy truck - broke reflector & a little fly s*** on the windshield
Eltoro - 2 broke springs, pretty good bondo damage, broke castor shim, bad cap & rotor, defective wheel weight.
Probably a git heavy for the KM2's but what the hell.
Joel Withers pulled his and Pat's buggy to the Hammers for KOH this year in his 36' Aluminum enclosed like my old one with a full load of fuel (40 gallon bed cell) and all the s*** to stay for a week and it was 27,100 and he has a truck just like yours except it is a diesel.

I meant AT/KOs...I also meant DUALLY, not Diesel. I am high.....
Either way, the truck is no where near at limit, it is the rear single tires that are at the limit.
They are rated at 3750# each. With a trailer that long and the trucks both to the rear it is likely he is not too far overweight on the tires, but it for sure is.
I don't care and I assure you Jrob does not care. Just sayin....
JRob could step it up to a 22.5 and I could get him some 11R's or 285/75/22.5 Low Pro and that would be the last set of tires he would ever have to buy for it.
sorry sir ! it wasn't driver's error! the slider would not have cover the bottom part of the passenger's door!
Jrob

This year it was dry and we made it up the slab w/ no help from the rope. The 80 made it on its own power once the lockers were on. I made quite and impression on the guys driving a mini truck w/ 36's tsl and a 4runner w/ 38's tsl
They were thinking that I had no chance coming up that slab w/ my 285's al terrains.
This is a picture from last year! My son Fernie and I made this part w/ no strap but we had all 5 tires on the ground,... Yes, this included the spare tire yeah!
Never said it was drivers error. Only issue was using your lockers like the charge you buy the hour. Oh, and I have to disagree with you on the sliders. They absolutely would have saved your door. But what do I know?
New rule just for JP... If it's bad enough to need a spotter it's bad enough to have your lockers on. If you really want to try to make an obsticle without your lockers you should let your spotter know this in advance. Just sayin'
That said, you really drove that 80 well and represented 80 owners well. It was great to see your family again too. Hope the kids had fun on the side trip on the way home.

Family had a blast on the whole trip! ...they missed their bikes tho'!
next trip we're bringing 'them!
Dully noted sir on them slider & lockers!
I ain't blaming you!
I am still learning the locker thing. I always like to give it a try w/out the lockers and If it's a no go then the locker comes on!
keep in mind I have been wheeling the hell out of this 80 for quite some time and still wearing OEM parts.
People I tell what I go do on my 80... drive it over to the event, wheel the hell out of it, and then drive it back, not necessarily puts me in a good situation! ...more like an insane person!
you need to bring that Purdy 80 to the events! looking forward to see that 80 alive
note to self:
need sliders and rear bumper
question:
should I fix the door now or wait till after June????

Oh....I missed one highlight! Jeff(jebber) decided that his 40 ran better on it's side, and that it's fun to blow a bead on the trail...twice!! Anyone have pics post em up!!!
Good to see all y'all to jeff. Pretty sure I'll be there next year!!
