BTUMAN, you got some serious video skills! Loved the sound track and editing.

Hey Y'all...

Is this trip something you have to register for? -I mean... do they regulate how many vehicles are on this road? Just curious, as I'd really like to join you guys and thought I'd better check... I know many wilderness areas require permits for backpacking, etc...

What say ye?

ok so the simple answer to your question is you can definatly go next year and we'd love to have ya along!!! We have a "Thread" already started called something like "Ouray 2016" or something like that. It's simple just let us know that you are going and we will include you in updated information etc... Now for the more technical part of your question I may not be the guy with the answers. I know we did not required to get permits, "small unofficial" groups don't have to. What makes a "small unofficial group", no idea what the count is:) I know we are going to keep things as close to this last year as possible.... Worked out great! @codyaustin5 and @BTUMAN are the brains behind the operation and would be the guys to give you specifics etc...

You can definitely come. This is the official thread so I'll update post #1 as we get closer. Right now dates are confirmed so you can block out your calendar.

Our group is open to whoever. We're not organizing a big event like the FJ summit. This is more grass roots get together who love 200s.

Great! I am 99% sure that will work for me. Would likely bring me wife as well. Looks like a fun trip through an incredible landscape. We are actually considering a move to Colorado...and this would be a perfect way to combine scouting the area for living quarters...along with a sweet Cruiser trip.

I'll be following along...
Thanks!

I'm pretty sure I'm hitting up Utah again this year for a few days prior to the Ouray meet up. That worked out really well as far as balancing my drive out west and bang for my buck. Anyone want to go start thinking about it - no weirdo's.

I did the WRT this past trip and it was excellent. I'm wanting to check out more of what Moab has to offer / trails / views/ epic adventures.
For those of you who have to travel a day plus in distance and if your schedules allow I suggest you guys think along the same lines.
Just so you know it was only like a 3-4 hours drive from Moab to Ouray so that's not bad at all.

The WRT was fine for the 200. Being that its so wide open (out there) with no view obstructions you can pretty much identify any tight turns and be ready for them prior to the approach. One or two of the climbs on murphy's hog back were soft (underfoot / tire) but you just compensate with throttle and walk right up. Being my first time on shelf trails it was a great experience before heading to Ouray, boosted my confidence and I was able to better understand my vehicles width vs. what my mind was telling me. Not to be missed

no pinstripes earned there - those were handed out in Ouray

I'm in. I wanted to do Cruise Moab....but it we combined these....that would be epic...perhaps we should start a sub thread on the pre-Ouray...I'm seriously in.

Thanks mark, but it was just iMovie maker on my iphone. Easy peasy. I hope it generates more interest so we will have more folks.

Ok, so I could not do the slow-mo on you tube and show all 5- 200 Series in a brief video. It was Labor Day and not Memorial Day- doh. But here you go- regular speed:

What I noticed in that video is that the ARB'd guys ended up with no mud/water making it's way onto the bonnet, but the two non ARB'd rigs did. Interesting to see the little changes that those bars make!

I noticed that too. It seems a lot of that might have to do with the fact that the added bumpers add about six inches to the nose of the Cruiser...so the wave created by the wheels on the water is buried farther back from the front of the vehicle, and has a harder time washing up the grill.

The stock bumpers almost form a vertical "water plow..." :)

The 2 of us with stock bumpers and no lift also went too slow compared to the others. #rookies

Sign us up for '16. If I'm out of the country I'll fly in and meet Dawn/truck at DEN. Seriously crushed not to have made '15 in the end :( Much more capable of manipulating my schedule by next summer.

Seriously @steenh and other SE folks - Dallas area is an ok mid-point for caravan and you can stay or camp on the farm en route.

Thanks JamesC, I'm still trying to work through scheduling on whether I can make it this year. That week just might not work unfortunately but won't know for a few months. We did the north route out, and the middle route back. Will have to try the south route next time through! Anything to change the 26 hours of scenery.

We need to plan the pre-trip to Moab. Who else is seriously in?

If I can go at all, I'm definitely in for Moab.

I hope you can...I need to know if folks are really going- if not- I may go to Cruise Moab in May...

Btw- love your new set up- holy cow you are set now! That new bumper is awesome! I really wish we had more time to visit in Ouray- it was pretty packed.

I will know about Ouray within a month or two for sure. And yes, I'm really happy with the setup. Rack is next... maybe a snorkel if I can convince Linda that it's a beautiful thing (long shot :) ) and then I really need to push it to see if I ultimately want to get lockers or not. Somehow I don't think I will need them but want to know for sure and haven't pushed it enough yet.

I'm down 100% for Ouray 2017 with the family if that happens. :steer:
