Do you know Steen? He drove out from Atlanta this year.

I had my kids with me this year, no issues there. Just have to be careful with them around mine shafts, broken down mining buildings or the endless ledges and drops.

I haven't met him, but we've spoken a few times on the forum. I'd definitely want to caravan with people if I'm able to go.

From Atlanta it's a solid 26 hours on the road, but enjoyed it all and hoping I can pull it off next summer again!

Let me know if you decide to go again...it's a long shot for me, but I've always wanted to do something like this. The main issue I've got is that school starts that week, so I'd have to take my son out for a couple days. I mean, he'll be in first grade, so I'm not that worried, but not sure if the boss (wife) will be okay with it.

Promise her a trip to a spa - that's what I did and it worked.

I'm also a bit sketchy on the dates. Depends on whether my daughter stays in her college appt or moves... if she moves, that's the week I'd have to help her do that.

If you have any shot at all at going, just make it happen. You won't regret it at all. My wife came and I was really worried about how she'd take the drive, and it was no problem after seeing the destination... it's that good!

If I do end up being able to go, a caravan sounds great.

You all have some funky early school start dates.... I thought CO started early which is the last week of August.

NO f'ing kidding...it's absolutely insane. We start the first week of August, AND they keep trying to start earlier.

It is crazy. Feels like the middle of summer and vacation season... but she's out by the end of April at UGA, and the school kids are out at the end of May.

This sounds like a epic trip!! I will definitely have my rig built by then. Mid to late July would fit my schedule better as August is a crazy month in the car business with Toyota. Look forward to meeting some of y'all

Would love to make this for 2016. Babies are still pretty young for this, but I do want to get them accustomed to this kind of recreation early...

My rig is stock and I plan on keeping it that way for the foreseeable future. Having said that, I would be into adding sliders. Pre game install party at Slee's shop anyone? I'll bring the beer. Slee is about the only one I would let touch my 2hundo.

I talked to the wife...and she wants to go in August! I'll have to keep an eye on this thread... :)

We are seriously considering moving to Colorado, by the way...and from the looks of the terrain in your photos...I'm even MORE keen on the move idea.

Why leave San Diego? Weather is perfect there.

We are also looking to move to CO... race you there!

The weather in San Diego is nice indeed.

But... When I have the chance, I travel to places like Alaska, Colorado, Utah...Oregon...because I love the forests, mountains, rivers and more.
Plus... San Diego is expensive... For what I'm paying in RENT right now, I could buy a mansion in Colorado. Meanwhile, California is getting politically ridiculous...Heck... they keep trying to make most of my firearms illegal... :)

I love mountain-biking...Land Cruising...fishing...kayaking...skiiing...backpacking...camping...mountain climbing...landscape photography...and would love to live in a place where those things are everywhere.

I had a chance to move to San Diego earlier this year. I would have had to leave 1/2 of my gun behind.

If you go, we could caravan. I would like to extend the trip a bit either before or after Ouray if you're intersted, maybe spend some time in Utah or N Az.

Ya, if we go (and I'm pretty sure we will), we'd extend as well.
We love Utah/N. Arizona too. Gorgeous drive even without wheeling.
So... Maybe! :)

Maybe it won't be wet next year and we can do The Wall at Poughkeepsie. You all did great on the trail- even the stockers did great ( I was worried there a few times). Btw, have you seen the Alaska Trek post? Talk about drive....

I need to upload the mud bough videos from that spot at the Engineer pass turn off. Makes me giggle.
