i'm a mechanic not lawyer, but this is what i read the law as -
In CA, you need to be a member of a non profit org or something to have a raffle, and 90% of profit needs to be contributed to the a CA non profit. I thought about the raffle they did for volunteers etc @ KOH, but theres no money changing hands so i guess it doesnt matter. I checked out the CO website, i guess they are classed as a non profit, and on their raffles site they divy up where 90% of there profit raised goes to. I have no problem with donating extra money to someone i think worthy of it such as a land use , Friedns of the rubicon etc ( i never made it to the rubicon, and hope one day i can come back to the us and drive it!) , etc, Im not greedy and am only after my asking price for the FJ, but its not anywhere near the money i understand the gov wants you to donate. I could think of a way to get around it being that if i sell 300 rare Agoura Hills, CA (Where Kanan Road meets US-101!) postcards for $200 a pop, and then decided to give my FJ to one of those people who bought a postcard of me, its not really a raffle?
