New pump will not correct fuel gauge. But if issue on fuel pump hanger (pump, float, sensor, ground, wires). Your mechanic can check their, function while pump out.
Denso, no longer makes any fuel pumps. Any, you get from third party. Is either old stock, if lucky. Or bootleg Chinese junk.
You may find you've rust in fuel tank, which clogs sock and is hard on pump & filter. Is so use magnet and vacuum bottom as needed with hand pump/large syringe.
Advantage of OEM fuel pump in 06-07. They come with sock/pump filter.
The 06-07 fuel, has bad fuel pump. That gives a tell, when failing. Engine will stall, after long acceleration as foot taken off the gas. This is most notable on hot days in summer, when climb mountain passes as we crest the pass and let off the gas. If reading for DTC at the time, before IG key off. We see BK1 & BK2 lean pending or even current.
BTW: Rust/iron deposit in fuel tank. Is from bad gas. Bad gas is from old iron fuel storage tanks at filling stations. Newer filling stations, will have composite storage tanks, so good gas. Most states also have inspectors, which list data online about each filling station. Which includes if they replaced the storage tank.
One sign of rust in tank. Is lean fuel trims. Which can also be weak pump, weak voltage to pump, weak fuel pressure regulator, vacuum leak.
Other things may be going on with engine also. Tune, coolant service, wonky MAF. Even a compression test may be warranted. Especially if intake air has not been property filter, overheating and or S.A.I. filter missing.
We've a $2.00 part in the S.A.I. (secondary air injection) system of the VVT engine, that is taking-out ~$
7,000.00 $
15,000 $25,000 (inflation) in parts. WOW!
I've a very easy and cheap WORK AROUND. You are going to love this
This thread is dedicated to the 4.7L 2UZ-fe
VVT engine, in the 2006 & 2007 100 series Toyota Land Cruiser & Lexus LX470 manufacture in Japan for the USA market.
It also applies to all 4.7L 2UZ-fe VVTi such as in the: GX470, 4Runner, Sequoia, etc.
Every 2UZ-fe 4.7L VVT engines, S.A.I. filter will fail. AND then get CAT...
