2006 100 Series 74k miles value?

@fjatheart : I think that is fairly priced (about 1.5 yrs ago I found for my parents a clean, one owner 06 with 71k miles on it and they paid $30k ask with other offers on the table). You can read through this and take away what you like, but I think everyone here would agree that you need to move fast on low mileage, clean 100's.

So if you aren't in the "well I could almost get a 200 for that price" camp, I'd say you had better be calling them today to buy it!

I overpaid on a 2002 100 series but I feel like it was worth it. California car rust free and in amazing mechanical shape and these cars are crazy hard to find here in SoCal. I think there's usually only 1-2 available at any given time in LA on Craigslist that are 2000-2006 so merely finding one for sale is an achievement in and of itself. I had to drive 2 hours one way to get mine. I'd say go for it.

I agree, in SoCal they are so tough the find. The ones that have been listed are either ungodly over priced, have over 200k miles or sitting on small dealer's lots where they've been for weeks/months. Probably with some ACH issues. There just aren't many low milage examples, at any price.

When considering these trucks, you have to throw KBB out the window because it just doesn't apply. I picked 2001 with 139k up a few weeks back. Paid the asking price which was $10800, original owners, most services done at Lexus. Was listed a couple hours away. Showed up, the car was immaculate. Brought the KBB print out with me showing the KBB at closer to $8k. But after we got back from our short test drive, there was someone else waiting to see the car. I quickly agreed to pay his asking price, the guy behind me was peeved. Had to do the timing belt/water pump the following week but I was glad to do it.

Do your research but be prepared to pay a premium for a nice example. And be quick for the well priced low milage ones.

Well I feel good about my purchase last fall. 2002 LC with 62,000 miles. It was a Michigan truck, but the only significant rust I found was on the rear differential and a fuel tank cover that needed a bit of grinding. The body is very clean with no spots. I did find crust in the hidden rear lower quarter behind the bumper that know one will ever see. I might cut it out someday but it does not seem to hurt anything. The frame showed rust on the welds but that buffed off and I coated it really well. It was a Dr.'s garage queen with a perfect interior! I paid $,000 for it!!! It was at a Toyota dealer who noted that it was several thousand over book. I bought it sight unseen and flew in to drive it home. After a quick inspection I was very pleased with it. It has been flawless, It is so quiet and tight that non-LC friends think it is new.

Well done.

Just to add my story to the pricing data. After searching for 3 months, I just purchased a Silver 06 LX 470 with 119k miles for $18.9k I was patient and waited for my preferred year and color with no accidents and full service history. I had alerts set up with all the car buying sites (auto trader, cars.com, car gurus, ebay, etc).

This one was listed at a Land Rover/Jaguar dealer with no price or pics and I ended up making a deal to buy it the same day they listed it. While I waited for the pics, Carfax and price from the dealer, I looked up the service history at drivers.lexus.com. This one had every service done at the same dealer. Carfax came back 1 owner no accidents, local CA vehicle.

Pictures were bad and taken with cell phone, but I decided to roll the dice and go with my gut. I had to commit and send a deposit on the spot. I paid full asking price. Truck was 500 miles away and I booked a flight to pick it up 2 days later. I was blown away when I got there. This truck seemed almost new. Paint was 9.5/10 zero dings. Interior was 9/10. Dealer had installed 4 new tires. The previous owners had traded it in on a new Range Rover. They claimed I was lucky since they had a lot of offers in the few short days it was listed. No way to know if that is true, but I suspect it is.

A few weeks earlier I checked out a near by dealer that specializes in Toyota and Lexus trucks/suvs. They had an LX, same year, same color with almost 40k more miles. They were asking $22.9k. I said I thought $20k seemed fair and they literally laughed. They claimed that 06 and 07 were rare and going up in value. That one is still for sale.

Be patient, find a good one, and move fast.
