Whats up everyone. Recently bought an LX470 and thought I'd introduce myself.

I've had Jeeps for most of my adult life but after I sold my last Wrangler (2021 Rubicon 4xe) I was looking for something with a little more tow capacity and enough room to haul around 4 dogs. I've always liked Landcruisers and came across this LX470 at a small local dealer. First time I stopped by it wouldn't start and the sales guy suggested I not even look at it - "the suspension is all broken you won't like it". I took his word for it and moved on.

I went home and priced out the OME setup to replace the broken suspension. Called the guy back to see exactly what he thought was wrong with it. He said the factory suspension had been replaced with some Old Man Emu junk. I said that's too bad and offered a little lower, and we had a deal. New battery and I was on my way. Worked out nicely for me.

So I am now the proud owner of a 2004 LX470 with 150k. Timing belt done a couple years ago, overall in really good condition. Arizona vehicle, no rust. Interior is in great shape. Paint is pretty rough but presentable.

I did my best to detail it inside and out then new wheels and tires.

Method 706 checked all the boxes for me. I like the bronze, they have an extended center cap to clear the hubs, and the bead grip concept can't hurt. A while back I worked with a racing team that was sponsored by Method and in many thousands of miles of class 1 racing we never had a single wheel issue that I can remember. So I figure they make decent stuff.

The tires are 33" BFG KO2.

The Mark Levinson system isn't working. Seems like I just get sound from a couple tweeters up front. I assume the amp is blown. Eventually I'll figure out how to replace that but for now this JBL boombox is my stereo. Actually does a pretty good job.

I bought the Arksen roof basket but before I even opened it I changed my mind and decided to go with a full roof rack. Last night I placed an order with Dissent for:

- Aluminum roof rack

- Rear bumper with swing out tire carrier

- Front bumper

Probably a pretty long lead time on this Dissent stuff so while I wait for that I'll probably get going on some underbody skids and sliders.

Dissent lists LC100 sliders as a product but I can't actually find them anywhere on the site. Will order from White Knuckle if Dissent doesn't make them anymore.

Next trip out will see how the LX does towing my little camper. Took it for a test run around the neighborhood and seemed to do just fine.

Before that I need to install my brake controller and will be doing some basic maintenance, fluid changes and stuff.

Nice ride, enjoy the build. I do love my 98 lx470

What's the part number for the method wheels?

Figured it will be a while until the Dissent stuff gets here so I put the Arksen basket on today. Seems decently well made, I like it. Will probably move it over to the camper eventually.

Forgot to take a before picture but the rear carpet was pretty dirty. Shampooed this by hand and sucked it up with a shop vac. Pretty rewarding to dump out a couple gallons of dirty water afterward. Interior smells so fresh and so clean now.

Anyone know whats up with the LX470 dome light bulbs? I ordered replacements but they won't click in. Looking at the original bulbs they taper into a little flat prong thing that sticks out from the ends. The prong actually sits in a slot in the light housing. New bulbs are the right size, but I can't find any that have this pointy end.

May try putting a drop of solder on the ends and try to make the point.
