I'm looking at a 2000 LX 470. Was about to commit to buying but asked for pictures of the underside of vehicle. I'm not sure if I should be worried about this? Thoughts? Should I purchase and feel okay about this amount of rust? How much would it cost to have it blasted and coated?

If you were living up north and travelling to a southern state was out of the question, I'd say go for it.

BUT

You are in TN that has alot of much cleaner, completely rust free vehicles. For you to buy something that rusted would be silly, even if the price was great.

It looks like their brake/fuel lines were rotted out and replaced with the DIY lines. Also exhaust piping looks like it was replaced either completely or in sections (hard to tell).

That's alot of rust even for a northern truck.

Walk away. There are better options

The way that line is ran. Wild stuff:skull:

Well it is 18 years old and it looks like a northern vehicle. If the rest of the body is really nice and you can use the crusty bottom to negotiate a good price then I say go for it. The other guys are right. In your location you can probably find southern rigs that look much cleaner underneath. If you plan on doing modes under that rig then walk away. If it is just going to stay stock and be driven into the ground then that is different.

Nah, even the price is right, the headache and time down the road is not worth it. Take your time an wait for the rust free one.

Next. Move on. There are other fish in the sea.

nope nope nope

I understand the struggle since i am a north easterner (philadelphia) but if what is easily seen looks like that, the stuff you cant see like behind the rear bumper, around the hatch, and behind the plastic panels on the sides, absolutely have to be worse.

Yeah I should of ask that same question before I bought a 99 LX470. Low miles but the rust was bad... I got for $3500 but now am fixing crazy rust...
