...I’ll admit it, that’s the first time I’ve ever seen anything like that happen before. I wonder what could cause that??

Now that's the second time I've heard this in as many weeks. So I'd say it's is a sure bet, the 2UZ-fe VVt-i is an interference engine.Sorry to hear about this. I was extremely picky also and finally found the LX470 I wanted. Made a deal for a water pump/timing belt replacement before I would buy, as it was not noted in service records with 150K miles. Well, the mechanic incorrectly installed the belt and I made it about 25miles from the dealership before the interference engine was destroyed... at least the top half. Luckily the mechanic stood by his reputation and work and I got a complete engine replacement for my troubles at no cost to me. Any work done to this vehicle recently/before purchase that could be under warranty still?
Yes Sir! Valves and pistons colliding is a bad time. Now that the second time I've heard this in as many weeks. So I'd say it's is a sure bet, the 2UZ-fe VVt-i is an interference engine.
I'm seeing lots of loose spark plugs. So I've add a 30K miles PM to clean & inspect plugs. This happened to my buddies IS300. Tighten up your sparkplugs boys! A lose sparkplug will work its way out and ruin your threads. I check mine every so often now. He had to use helicoil to repair and found other sparkplugs finger loose too!
Thanks for the cliche philosophical stance homie. Im not relating the plug to any kind of maintenance or mechanical oversight. I am, however, saying that with some of the other things needing attention, the level of preventative maintenance was exaggerated by the seller. It’s all good. We all know we are ultimately responsible for our own purchases.Hey man, s*** happens.. They probably did do the maintenance..just had a lazy or careless mechanic. First day of new car ownership is fluid changes, hose replacements, and a tune up..because you just never know..until you do.
