Are those load range E tires? Also what pressure where you running?
With how soft the sand looks in the picture I would usually have it down to 15 psi or lower, The Coopers I have on now are a load range C so I can get away with a little more pressure in them.

Yes those are load range E running on 15psi. They just break the top layer and keep digging forever. Couldnt keep up with friends running Coopers AT3. Someone suggested 10psi, but by the looks of it i think it would break or come off the wheels, specially when driving on the steep side of dunes.. Was already running on a lot of sidewall. What do you think?

That's a fine looking vehicle......
Thanks!

Interesting, yes if you do go down to 10psi theres a big chance it'll come off the wheels if not very careful. From my experience "new" AT tyres will dig a lot, once it starts wearing out slightly you should have more grip as well the E load is very stiff in the desert they should soften up with some time. I have a video i need to put up, with the old mastercrafts heavily worn down i was able to crawl up a sand hill from standstill.

Best overall tire I found for road/sand are Cooper LTZ Zeons. Come in a 285/60/18 with good load and speed rating. Fantastic fuel economy with low rolling resistance economy and very quiet for a reasonably aggressive look. Not so great in mud however. Got 100,00kms in first set. Pity they don't come in 285/65/18 or I'd have gone with them again for round 2. I wouldn't run them lower than 15 however as they are a comparatively light tire but then you don't need too as they float well on top of the sand.

Nitto Sand Grabbers are also ok but a bit louder on road.

Which one does better on sand.. also what kind of sand?
Like the one in my pic or more of beach sand?

Well, this is not really the correct thread for a discussion on tires but in my opinion I'd say probably the Nittos on fine soft sand, but not by much - thats what they were designed for afterall. Zeons are probably a better all-rounder however and certainly quieter, lighter and more efficient on road. Not to sure what the weight of an equivalent Nitto Sand grabber is but Nittos tend to be amongst the heaviest tires going around (pardon the pun). I now have a set of 285/65/18 Nitto Terra Grapplers as my daily drivers and a set of 285/65/18 Trail Grapplers for the weekend and believe me when I say these puppies are heavy suckers. - but nice.
