Holy crap, that looks like a nightmare! I would need to do this to install an aftermarket rack? I had thought it could use whatever to current rails use (assuming rails is the right term for the silver things that run front to back near the sides)
100% need to drop headliner for aftermarket racks. Picture of prinsu rack on my 19 Lx.

Make sure the sliders aren't for a Land Cruiser. LC and LX sliders are not interchangeable due to AHC. Slee does make LX sliders, so if that's what they are, then go for it.

lx200inAR,
Thanks. I have 2011 LX and the guy selling had slee put them on his 2011 LX, so probably good to go. He doesn't have any rivet nuts, so will have to get some.

I decided to go the OEM route like a few others on here and purchased a used LC200 roof rack for my LX. Supposed to come with all mounting hardware. Time to find online installation instructions! I'll post photos once installed.......

had to do some digging to find your model year. 2010 should be a snap. Main advice is to not zip off the bolts with a drill, and never remove one bolt if the other isn’t well loosened. Each anchor point has 2 bolts that thread into a bracket (under roof skin) that is held in place by a flimsy clip. If one bolt is removed, the clip will twist off its retention tab and when you remove the second bolt it will fall into the headliner. Another user came up with the idea of purchasing M8x1.25 studs to screw into a bolt location so that you can remove the rack while you still have a threaded rod holding onto the bracket. Other than that it’s pretty simple assuming they sent all the parts. I’d get some permatex liquid gasket to apply to the bottom of the rack braxkets. You’ll see when you remove them that there is a thin gasket from the factory.

Thank you for the reply! I'll keep allbthat i

How did you like the cross bars, because that's what I intend to do? Maybe 4 to start. The Gobi looks great on there!
They was good. It did the job and was very clean looking. I only got the gobi rack cause I caught a deal from a member on here.

Where did you find the used LC200 rack and how much if you don't mind? I'm looking, too-

I had a search saved on Ebay. Two came up, and the one I jumped on was $99 buy it now plus $67 shipping. I couldn't pass it up. The other one is still on Ebay for $400, free shipping, but is admittedly in better shape, basically new.

Thanks! I see the one for $400. Pondering-

If you guys are talking about these ones:

These have been mentioned before and the going consensus is that they are the aftermarket ones that sell for cheaper stood up next to toyota parts boxes.

I don't have the aftermarket ones, but i believe some other do, and they had no complaints. It's a pretty simple contraption, so I probably wouldn't be too concerned as long as it fits.

I looked at those too, but haven't purchased yet. I purchased the actual factory LC200 OEM rack with two OEM cross bars. I will be looking for extra crossbars.

I'm glad to hear the after market bars are good enough.

I see now, once I searched for land cruiser without the space, I found the ones you guys were talking about. Those look legit, albeit pricey.

This is a little cheaper, but no pictures of removed parts.

Also, if you have the LX bars, they can be modified to work on the LC rails. Just have to drill a couple holes offset a little form the factory holes on one side of the slider brackets.
