Thought i might just throw this one out there...

What colour should I paint her?

I like white, but for being stealth in third world countries with drug traffickers, thieves and terrorists, I'm thinking white might be a bit United Nations/Government, my other favourite green might be too military looking. So I'm leaning towards the factory beige or the brown of my dad's 55 ... bear in mind I will be painting all the barwork, rims, rootop boxes and flares the same colour i decide on, and that this car will not have a single sticker.

Very happy to hear suggestions.

here's my old man's lovely rig, and if anyone knows that brown colour code let me know.

Hard to beat white ..... Doesn't show dirt or scratches easily.

The factory biege/sand colour always looks good I reckon. Would catch the heat a bit less than a darker brown too.

Cheers
Clint
yeah i agree on the beige, beautiful colour, although i had a search for pictures of a dark brown troopy and i couldn't find any so far... I'm starting to suspect that the rareness of a dark brown troopy alone might do it for me (i strive to be different on all levels of life!), add to that the nostalgics of my father's first LC (and my first LC memory), and it might override the heat issue. although it won't really be an issue in terms of comfort inside the vehicle (touching the outside in the tropics yes), i have a ton of 'quietcrap' to do the entire body, and the roof will be completely covered by the RTT and tubs. I'm thinking the dark brown will be really stealth camped up in the jungle where I am most worried, although my tent and awning is beige.

yeah my last two troopies have been white, i do prefer it, but the idea of changing is to distinguish myself from the white gov/red cross/UN vehicles out there and look more like a tourist.

beautiful 75 by the way!

Perhaps white isn't the best color after all. :)
Thanks

I wonder if that blue and the blue on the bottom half of my 77 Series are one in the same. The blue on the 78 Series looks a little darker and richer.

Thanks for posting the pics Charles. For whatever reason I had troubles doing that.

The blue is different from the grey on the bottom half of our rigs. I once saw a troopy in this colour on the hwy and even a HZJ77 in this colour too and it looked really good.

Some green

What I like about these two colours is they seem to change a bit with the angle.

If you wanted to go grey like the bottom half of my HZJ77:

Or, just to be different and because I've seen so many LJ78 and HZJ77 like this but never other models, you could go classic 90's two tone on the troopy:

anyone know this colour code? not quite as chocolate as the brown of my dad's 55 but very nice i think... i still can't find an example online of a 70 in a dark brown, but i reckon it could come up really nice, maybe even keep the white roof, but not sure how it would look with white RRT cover, roofrack, roof-boxes etc.

thanks for the ideas!... much food for thought!

That is a nice colour!

I went for a more military style green for optimal stealth camping in NZ but it's not a colour I'd pick for international travel :D

Yeah now that I look at it, that colour I put up is probably a little greener in the sun than I'd like
