I posted a reply/question to this thread regarding the above title. But thought i should get some diesel guys involved since it is pertaining to them.....

Thanks fellas

Does this answer your question? It's a -FT motor but same as -T as far as the throttle cable/CC motor is concerned.

Well yes and no.

Pic#1 Your other swap shows the same setup as your -FT above with pedal cable to CC then CC to IP lever.
Pic #2 Iron Giant's swap shows the cable from the pedal going DIRECTLY to the IP lever, and cable from CC to the bracket the other cable is secured to.
Pic #3 HFJ81 CC, your setup would show pedal cable coming from direction of green arrow. Pulls that lever counter clockwise so the CC cable is pulled.

What i would like to clarify is the two different setups in your swap and iron giants.

I guess the method is in pic #3, but just would like to know how in Iron giants setup, the CC cable is attached to IP lever. Curious.....:beer:

Pic 1 is factory LHD HDJ81 cruise control/cable set up.
Pic 2, not sure what is going on there.. probably a temporary measure as it looks like the CC to pump cable is not even attached.
Pic 3 is a factory RHD HDJ81 set up as the cable goes back to the fire wall on the RH side of truck.
For LHD set up you need the cable to come in where you have the green arrow but that requires swapping out the RHD cable saddle for a LHD one out of an FJ80.. or just using a complete US FJ80 CC motor

Understood, I was just looking at my CC box in my 97' and there isn't such a saddle since the two cables both run to the throttle body. With your suggestion for the fj80 saddle, the setup then is more similar to the HDJs, with only one cable to the IP lever. Thanks!!!:D:D

97 has just a single cable on the CC motor. Get a working FJ80 CC motor then.

sorry for not responding sooner, i am out of the country ;)

Sheldon is correct in that the second photo was a temporary measure as the cruise control motor was waiting to be replaced. The CC cable is just resting against the accellerator linkage. My swaps have the same cable routing as factory/ Sheldon's.

fj80 throttle cable

As always, appreciate the input, gentleman.

But i wanted to know, since the fj80's CC motor was utilized for these swaps, couldn't the trottle cable from the pedal to CC box also come from a fj80?

The CC to IP lever cable of course is of a different length between the HDJ & FJ because of the location of the throttle lever, so certainly i would have to obtain the HDJ cable.

Trying to skimp on costs you know and circumvent the HDJ80 cable....:hillbilly:

The HDJ LHD cable is less than $50 IIRC from Dave at Japan4X4.

Factory Toyota costs a bit more but is super simple and plug n play to boot.

Yup, got with Dave already, with the declining dollar, it comes out to around $68 bones. I already confirmed with him i will purchase it, but just curious, fj80 CC box, why not fj80 cable too.

Nice conversion dude.:beer::beer::beer:

You would have to check the EPC for exact part numbers but I used a CC actuator out of a 1991 FJ80 for mine. I believe that if not identical, they are interchangeable (obviously).

are you saying the FJ80 CC motor is similar to the diesel one? Just wondering what Raymond used when he built mine.

If it's anything like the set up he has on his 1HD-T converted LX450 then it duplicates the late model FZJ conifig where there are 2 cable saddles on the engine end, one cable coming from pedal, one from CC control, the cable saddles are able to control the engine revs independent of each other.

The pic below is the 1HD-FT conversion he did on Jim's LX450, you can see it uses the RHD diesel CC box, but the upper saddle on the CC motor wasn't swapped for a LHD FJ80 one and therefore the cable has to make the big S bend and come in from the back side where the RHD cable popped through the firewall.

The diesel CC motors are basically the same as the FJ80 CC motor, the 93-97 are different don't really work if you are trying to duplicate factory Diesel 80 CC config.

Yes, the 2x FJ80 swaps (one is the top picture in post 3) I did used stock FJ80 throttle cable from pedal to CC motor, then stock HDJ81 cable from CC motor to engine.
In the case of the FZJ80 you can't use the stock cable, so if you are going to replace, you may as well buy new.. and if you are going to buy new you may as well get the correct LHD Eurospec part.
