All,
Looking for some clarification on an older thread. I have a 1993 HDJ81, and the clutch is wobbling and screeching.

Toyota Part # from is 88320-60340 (ToyoDIY). I've alternately on threads here seen this as a Denso replacement part # 10PA17C or 10PA15C. Any feedback?

The OEM compressor is a 10PA15C. I just did mine and I just bought an FJ62 AC compressor from rock auto and soldered the harness from the old compressor onto the new one.

Just went out and took some pics, it appears to be the 'shot' nose cone that I hear about. Unfortunately the nameplate on the back is so worn that I can't see much.

I bought mine of a EBAY seller a few years ago and had it charged with the new gas locally. The guy selling was very knowledgeable and knew which compressor I needed. The price was very reasonable and it still works very well.

Shot=short?
The 7* series are shorter overall than the 80 series compressors

I just replaced my seized compressor with another Denso unit. I bought it from Rockauto.com Look for a 1989 Landcruiser and that uses the same unit. Comes with compressor and clutch for less than $200. Fits perfectly and works flawlessly. You will however need to reuse the top plate with the valves.

Replaced my ac compressor on my 90 1HD-T with a 2002 Kia Sportage. Identical in every way, only need to change out the top plate.
Got it from a wrecker out of a low mileage Kia.

Any idea where I can find a top plate? Have a 1HZ swap to do, and the engine came with the mounting bracket, but no compressor. I can find the compressor online, but none that come with the top plate. Thoughts?

Which I could help but think you would need to get an old core. EBI up in Vancouver area could help you out , Maybe ???

@lynchmob says an FZJ80 manifold (that top plate you mention) will bolt on.

If you go to a junkyard you can find a lot of top plates with that some pattern. Pick out one with hose connections that point in a direction you like, take the hoses with the aluminum ends, and have hoses made to fit. A lot of radiator and ac shops do this type of work.

Note - the FZ compressor will not work. Its a 10PA-17 which has a longer housing on the front.

You rock! Thanks for the info. Will go dig one up from a junkyard.

I just realized the clutch and/or compressor is shot on my 1HDFT which has the longer front then the 1HD/HZ, wondering if the one from an FZ will work, anyone have one that they can measure to the center of pulley
