Good grief. I can’t imagine dealing with this. It’s unfathomable. Can’t you just put a piece of cardboard that says “tag applied for” on the back and go?

People from free states struggle to comprehend how we are forced to live in places like Colorado.

Its been a frustrating experience, I think the most of the frustration comes from trying to do it the "right" way. Then that pathway gets blocked.

She should be legal in a few days.

I've done a lot of Cummins swaps into 80's.

In most states, an obd1 cruiser with a Cummins will pass any emissions test for the gas engine. Obd2 will not.

Register obd2 swaps outside emissions areas. That is the best way. There are a lot of obd2 vehicles that have been repowered out there. They're pretty much all registered outside emissions areas. Just like deleted diesel pickups.

My biggest recommendation when dealing with a DMV is to play dumb, don't volunteer anything. I've run a half dozen obd1 80 series through Portland emissions testing and the passed no problem. I said "I don't know" a few times and acted like I couldn't care less about what they were doing. They walked me right through.
