It's the politics of the day. Seeing it in my own profession.

@LouisianaRubicon Auctions used to be discouraged on this site and prices were either required or strongly encouraged.

This is, or rather used to be, a community of enthusiasts who helped each other, shared knowledge and experience and didn't take advantage of other users. I don't post here much anymore because things seem to be changing for the worse.
I understand, I won't continue to clog up the OPs thread (at least we're keeping it bumped for him!). I agree things seem to be deteriorating in some areas but I would say its the attitude of "he's trying to take advantage of other users" because he doesn't want to post the reserve price for an auction. It's still a community of enthusiasts, instead of encouraging the sale of a rig to future land cruiser owner and bringing in another person to the community some come to the classified section to say "why didn't you post your rig for sale in a way that is pleasing to me" and so on and so forth. Just because there's an established norm doesn't mean it's always best for the community. Communism is an established system and we know how that works out. The Op should do what works best for him, his family, and his bottom line. Not sure if you are shopping for an 80 or you came here to make a point. I have a couple of businesses and a portion of my day involves a person who wants something we don't do. I.e. "Why wont you sell me a red bike", "we sell blue bikes here" all the while 3 other places sell red bikes. Clearly, we disagree. If you feel this is a problem you should petition the owner of the site to require prices...

Yeah, its funny to see this community romanticized, like everyone is just giving helpful pats on the back to sellers when they want more than guys here would pay. I love the wealth of knowledge found here, and there are some outstanding individuals that make this an amazing place in many ways, but MAN does the MUD family love to bash on people's sale prices. I put an ultra low mile 40th anniversary cruiser on ebay, with a buy it now price of $26k. I shared a link on mud, and was raked over the coals. Plenty of folks here called me to offer me 14-15k, said it wasn't worth a dime more. It sold for over $22k, and I had a line of people contact me expressing interest if the purchase fell through.

I think the auction is the best place to find the true market value, the fact that some might see that as being disharmonious to the mud brotherhood is a mystery.

I hope you sell it for a mint. GLWS!

Sale pending
